Fans of ability uptime have access to some of the most potent perk combos in the game with Demolitionist/Adrenaline Junkie and the newly-introduced Pugilist/Swashbuckler. Firefly lets you spec for efficient add clear at a much longer range than Fatebringer while being on an actually good weapon class, unlike the Hung Jury. Also unlike Fatebringer, Firefly can roll with a damage perk in the form of Focussed Fury, or feed you huge amounts of energy with the ability regeneration perks.
For the GM enjoyers, Focussed Fury/Vorpal Weapon lets you double-up on anti-champ damage for seasons with pulses in the artifact, while SFA/OFA is a reload+damage combo that scales exceptionally well into harder content. Focussed Fury + another damage perk in general seems absolutely filthy; this gun doesn't really need reload perks, and the Origin Trait makes FF much easier to proc. If your build can already crank out abilities like nobody's business (Contraverse Hold, Heart of Inmost Light, Frostees) then you might really enjoy something like FF/AJ, or even FF/OFA to go all-in on a 60%, easily repeatable damage buff for 10 seconds. The fact that it's craftable really ties the whole package together: it's an endlessly flexible gun that has a little something for everyone. A new favourite for sure.
As far as PvP goes, this has a decent stat package but not much beyond that. For 6es you want a perk like Rampage or Kill Clip for the lethal 2-burst, but Adrenaline Junkie and Swashbuckler both need 2 stacks for 10% damage. There's potential for a Focussed Fury roll to be absolutely disgusting thanks to the Origin Trait giving you more room to proc the perk, but you're going to need a lot more aim and effort to get that train rolling vs. a kill with something like Forge's Pledge. With Desperado now rolling on a couple of 390s, it's not likely the sharpshooters will gravitate towards this adaptive in particular. The lack of Hi-Cal or AP Rounds is also a little disappointing- you're likely to get your head blown off should you challenge snipe lanes, and flinch is part of why slower-killing 390s can still hang with more lethal weapon classes, forcing misses to equalize TTK. A pure duelling roll with Moving Target/Eye of the Storm could work, but it likely still isn't optimal in the current High-Impact meta.
