My roll with the refreshed Jurassic are Corkscrew, ricochet, subsistence, incandescence, range masterwork, and a counterbalance stock. The other reviews mentioning the recoil pattern being lopsided are well-founded but can easily be fixed with a counterbalance stock. Beyond that one problem, this gun absolutely shreds both in pve (because of incandescence) and in pvp. Jurassic now also comes with Search Party which is just an all around buff when not near teammates ( the distance needed to activate is surprisingly little). Using this in the crucible, I found myself consistently outgunning pulses, autos, hand cannons, and scout rifles (including no time, Bxr, etc.). Honestly give this thing a try, I was very surprised with how well it performs.

Bungie recently made a sandbox change that puts more weight on how the frames of weapons act, which means rapid fire pulses (and every other gun for that matter) want to have more attention given to things other than just range. Honestly the roll I’ve been using of the new Jurassic Green is a lot of fun to use for ad clear. I have a stability masterwork, hammer forged rifling, ricochet rounds, subsistence, and incandescent roll and it’s an absolute blast. With more of the beef put on stability for this gun, it handles perfectly fine and doesn’t have too much compromised in other categories. Sure, the BXR is a Goliath of a gun because of the Halo-inspired frame it has, but it doesn’t have the exact same perk pool as this. Personally I think some other perk combinations could be a lot of fun to use in different applications, but not everyone has the same opinions on how perks work for them. It’s all personal preference. Remember, if you like to use it, USE IT!

sorry there is only one version of god roll, both jurrasic and gridskipper with arrowhead, jurrasic has worst recoil in game, but with arrowhead upped to 80 you can manage headshots with autofire mod, next perk is frenzy. then its real meat grinder better even than vorpal. special like frenzy have 15% buff to damage, vorpal only works on champions, boss and vehicles. where frenzy gives 15% to everything. next frenzy gives you +50 on handling and reload. and when you shoot all the time, its always active. you also need more range to counter damage falloff. killing wind in 3rd column can counter that. i also replaced vorpal on craftable heavies, frenzy activates even when you dont use weapon with frenzy. plus heavy has only 10% buff after vorpal nerf

Let me sell you on what this gun can do in PvE, at first glance you will look at this and immediately think that the BxR is better. In some ways, you aren’t wrong.

But let us consider two rolls this weapon has that as far as I’m aware, no other solar primary has. Subsistence / Golden Tricorn and Subsistence / Incandescent.

Now with the Golden Tricorn roll, you can easily maintain the damage buff with say Caliban’s Hand. Melee centered solar builds using Melee Wellmaker will easily be able to keep uptime on it, basically giving this weapon a huge damage increase for just playing your build.

Then for Sub / Incandescent, I needn’t say more. With something like extended mag, you can easily clear a room without reloading.

The downside to this weapon is the recoil. It’s dog water. You’ll need minimum counterbalance stock and quite honestly arrowhead break and a stability masterwork just to get it going.

With that in mind I do consider the god roll to be just that. If you find those rolls. Don’t dismantle it. I think with the perfect roll it’ll outdo the BxR.

BXR is a better choice if you are going for Incandescent as it lets you roll Demo in column 1 while offering much better base stats. Not to mention this gun has a recoil direction so bad that not even Arrowhead brake can fix it... seriously you need to slap a counterbalance mod on to make the gun feel ok at best.
Tricorn is an interesting perk that may offer some unique build opportunities but this gun is just lacking overall to make me want to use it.

I’ll agree that for incandescent builds the BxR will outperform it in most areas. Though I can see a sub / incandescent roll being a good option in low endgame activities. With an extended mag you are reaching 45 ammo and sub regenerates over 6 ammo per kill. You can go on quite a kill chain without reloading.

But if you’re a grenade build especially in harder end game content, BxR all the way.

I did try out a calibans hand with sub / tricorn but my roll didn’t get arrowhead and the kick did feel bad. But being able to throw a dagger, get Tricorn x2 and kill a few adds then throw another dagger to refresh was a great add clear loop.

I will say that it needs arrowhead break and counterbalance to even remotely be ok though. With the full auto setting coming next season, I can see this being a good use for it.

My favorite roll so far is Rangefinder and Incandescent. It's fun to use in PVP, but this is a pulse for very close range. I've enjoyed trying to figure out the unorthodox recoil of this gun, it almost feels like you're using a hand cannon with the way it bounces left and right. I'm sure with both stability past 50 and counterbalance stock, this gun will decimate. Edit: I got a roll with Arrowhead brake, High-Caliber rounds, RF, Incandescent, and Stability MW. It's amazing. Took forever to get, but certainly worth it.

ive only gotten range finder to drop on only 1 single roll... i think bungie nerfed its drop rate. but i cant prove it. or im just very very very unlucky

I definitely see most of my rolls getting subsistence for the 1st column perk. Rangefinder is a rare find on this one.

Sub/Incandescent Lights up whole rooms of ads and is great for midgame PvE, is mediocre in crucible because of its poor recoil direction. This weapon has a permanent slot on my warlock.

I got a subsistence and incandescence roll on my first game; this gun it is an absolute monster. I would say the BXR is significantly better but this weapon holds a special place in my heart. However, I can't rate this for pvp but I naturally suck at pvp.

This gun definitely exists. It can be equipped yeah, but unless you have no alternatives, why would you? If you want an incandescent pulse rifle that doesn’t need to reload, then take a BxR with incandescent and demo. If you want a PvP rapid-fire then just use horror’s least or Darkest Before. It’s not that it fails at the roles it performs,
it’s that it’s completely outclassed in everything it tries to do.

While the weapon stats aren't anything special, there are a few things about this weapon that stand out to me. Out of the 4 (I think) rapid-fire pulses we have to choose from (Piece of Mind, Horrors Least, Gridskipper, and this), Jurassic Green is the only one with access to rangefinder. With the recent Piece of Mind zoom nerf, that gives this access to the highest range of the four. For PvP, this is my go-to for column 3, but Perpetual Motion, Killing Wind and Tunnel Vision are all good choices too. Column 4 has Incandescent, Gutshot Straight and Adrenaline Junkie, which again are all great perks to have. While niche, incandescent can be used in team fights to cancel health regen, prevent revives, ect. Not my first pick, but I do find it fun to use. Adrenaline Junkie gives 20 handling for a kill, which given the weapon stats is definitely nice. The damage buff is cool too, I guess. Gutshot straight can make the gun more forgiving if you are struggling to land headshots. For PvE, Subsistance or Perpetual Motion are the most appealing to me. Perpetual Motion being passively active combines really well with frenzy in column 4, making for a really smooth-feeling weapon (although this combo is also available to horrors least). Incandescent makes for a very nice add-clearing weapon, and golden tricorn can give a massive 50% damage buff, which being solar pairs very nicely with things like titan hammers. As for the barrels, mags and mws, as usual it's all down to personal preference. I personally prefer Arrowhead Brake, in both PvP and PvE, but things like Fluted Barrel, Smallbore and Corkscrew are all good picks too. Extended barrel/Hammer forged could increase range if you are going for a rangefinder roll. As for magazines, ricochet rounds are very strong in PvP: more range, and more stability which decreases flinch. The ricochet itself has its uses: blocking revives, cancelling health regen and heavy ammo pickups in certain situations. Armor-piercing rounds and high calibre rounds can help in niche situations. For PvE, Flared Magwell, Appended Mag and even Light Mag (no one ever uses this one for some reason) are all good picks too. Any masterwork is good, really, though I wouldn't use a reload speed masterwork in PvP. Again, all down to preference.

Edit: I completely forgor Darkest Before and Time-worn Spire. Doesn't really change the review, so...
Also, one thing I forgor to mention was consistency. While perks such as Arrowhead Brake can make this gun feel very consistent, the poor base stats mean that any other 540 will typically feel better/more consistent in the neutral game. The only draw for me here is the perk pool, which is too subjective to make up for the stats in a lot of peoples cases, imo.

Absolute ad clear monster with incandescent and subsistence. Decent in PvP although I'd personally think Piece of Mind is still the better choice for this archetype, as it's recoil direction is lacking

Despite a number of good perks, this gun's low overall stats and skewed recoil pattern make it mid-tier at best. With a recoil pattern stat of 50, your recoil will always be lopsided even if you roll an Arrowhead Brake, making Counterbalance Stock practically a necessity.

My recommendation? Just play some legend Dares every week until you can craft a BxR-55 Battler. That solar pulse rifle outshines this one in nearly every respect.

This is without a doubt one of the guns of all time. It fires bullets and has perks in both the 3rd and 4th columns. Its recoil direction and rate of fire exist and farming it was possible. and likely will be in the future. I used a roll of this weapons when I first picked it up in both pvp and pve.

In a world where the BXR exists, this does not have a very good chance of becoming even a decent pick for most activities. Low stats, paired with sub-optimal rolls, leaves you with a gun that can never really feel great or function well.

the bxr is less forgiving in pvp compaired to this gun, its actually a really good gun for pvp and pve. but im still waiting for the day a rapid fire pulse has rapid hit and kill clip

i was wrong i was wrong i was wrong, golden tri breaks pvp. but i feel like a nerf is coming.

golden tri, +rangefinder will make your solar subclass very happy in pvp, also maybe in pve as well. tho i did hear rangefinder got nerfed recently, so maybe tunnel would be a bit better, eather or, youll be happy.
