Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all got it. It's not a Hand Cannon for PvP, because it's stats aren't shine and it doesn't slaps hard. It's also not a great gun for PvE, because it doesn't have that many useful perks. But both PvP and PvE players already have wide selection of good hand cannons for them - Austringer, Eyasluna, Fatebringer, Something New, Steady Hand... and the list goes on and on. So you may ask me, if this gun is neither for PvP or PvE, then what is it's purpose and why did I gave it 4 stars? I'll tell you - becaus this gun is made for people, who don't like 120s, but want to have THE BIG IRON.

I, personally, HATE 120s for their slow-ass reload. Reason is simple: my aim is shit, so I have to reload A LOT. But heavy revolvers are AWESOME and I'd love to use them just because of their feels. Luckily, this gun is built to has the fastest reload of 120s - more than a half perks of the first column are all about reloading. And then there are also Frenzy and Elemental Capacitor in the second, if you need more reload (I do). Other perks are not that good though, I agree, BUT fans of melee builds can value combo Grave Robber+Pugilist/Swashbuckler. And also this is another HC with Osmosis, and I know that there are fans of it. But I have to admit, Judgment handles this perk better, so I mention it only for clarity.

Unpopular opinion in gun's reviews, but I also want to praise this gun for it's gunplay, because it feels AMAZING. Finally, another breech-loading revolver that looks like a modern gun, without too much sci-fi aesthetic. It also shades extremely well and if shader has a pattern, then it will be displayed properly. Pure Poetry also gives me eargasm every time I pull the trigger, the gunshots are CRISP af, fitting gun's name really well. If you like to use some guns just for their looks and feels, then this one is also for you.

Summary, if you don't like this gun - it's alright. For you there is a selection of 120 HCs for both PvE and PvP. But this one - this is for the people who hate 120 HCs for their long reload. And it deserves a respect for doing it's job right.

(Primarily a Crucible review)

The poorest stat package on a 120 since Loud Lullaby. Bungie really wanted to break the mold when they made Igneous Hammer, huh?

No Surplus or consistency perks with no strings attached like Rangefinder in the third column really kills this thing for me, final column has Opening Shot, Elemental and Swashbuckler I suppose, but True Prophecy works with OS/Elemental better, and has a base 9-bullet mag compared to this gun’s measly base 7, which makes a big difference. Steady Hand works with Swash better. If you aren’t bothered to farm a True Prophecy and you missed out on the Steady, sure it could work. But on the other hand, Bottom Dollar is a thing.

I wanted you back Hakke frame 120, but not like this, never like this…

After the buff to ambitious assassin an ambitious assassin/Rampage combo looks nice at least for pve anyways.

this gun feels nice to shoot and its a breach and clear. feels nice to shoot but.... the perk pool is very poor in PvP. i dont really think this compares to true prophecy or steady hand and true prophecy is farmable via dares and steady hand is gone now. now that arc 3.0 is out you can run elemental capacitor and its way better than this thing. it has such terrible base ammo. i think in pve, however you could run something like outlaw, mkc, or rampage. extended is definitely recommended as you really need some ammo, dont even think about putting minor spec on either since you really need more ammo than just the extended. i think this gun is solid-feeling as a 120 but it unfortunately fails to impress with its lootpool.

Based solely on PVE because 120s in PVP right now... lul. At first I got one of these that reloaded at about the speed of a musket, so I wrote it off. Then I got one with ensemble and frenzy and just tried it out in a patrol zone..... And wow, 350 kills and an hour later I was like whoa I bet there are some rolls that could work on this thing. Base reload is horrendous, yes. BUT if you have any of the subclass buffs that increase reload speed, it quickly becomes a non-issue. So if you rely on subclass buffs and armor mods for reload, it potentially opens up the 1st perk slot so you could use some interesting stuff, like well rounded just as an example. If the same action both increases reload speed with the subclass perk, and that same action buffs stab, range, handling via the weapon perk, that could be a pretty nice package.

I would put a mag perk like 4TTC or AA on this, plus something for stability and a damage boosting perk and actually give this a go. AA and Rampage could be tasty indeed, stack it for recoil control and stab. I was genuinely surprised by how good ensemble felt, though it does require you to be near teammates, but it felt insanely good especially with frenzy procced and the subclass buff. Reloads were lightning fast and I have to admit I just love the soundtrack and the look of this thing. It sounds like Crimils Dagger.

All in all an interesting package, if not the most immediate, jump straight to the top of the meta offering. It is different, which I like. We do not have a lot of 120s with deep perk pools that are easily farm-able. Will be messing with this for awhile, seeing what it can do, and that is the fun, thats why I play D2. There are so many perks in the pool that getting the roll you want may be frustrating, but I think there are at least some very interesting synergies to be had with this gorgeous blam cannon.

(PVE)

DO NOT SLEEP ON FRAGILE FOCUS - She's literally becomes a sniper & Osmosis for elemental builds and solo play is super clutch!

ps. Ambitious Assassin's is wild; having 18 in the chamber on this 120 in tandem with Vanguard's Vindication is super nutty

has multiple great rolls to pair with lucky pants (arrowhead brake) (extended mag) (fourth times) (frenzy, focused fury, osmosis with elemental burns)

First time seeing focused fury on a HC, it has 2 tap potential in pvp and, paired with 4th time, might actually be good in pve for higher tier content. I'm keeping it. Plus, Elemental capacitor and fragile focus doesn't seem to bad in pvp

Great in crucible with eye of the storm and perpetual. column three also has steady hands, ambitious, outlaw and tunnel vision. column four has swash, opening shot, multi kill, elemental, and rampage. The biggest issues are the low mag size and is a bit lacking in third column consistency perks. Otherwise very nice.

To be honest, it got poor stats overall, however I do recommend picking up this weapon especially if u like 120s. My greatest praise for this thing is that its unique, from its looks, reloads, and sounds (at least in comparison with other 120s). The weapon feels great in terms of shooting, everything else feels rather slow, so I very much recommend getting Perpetual Motion. This gun can also get Swash Buckler, this might be the only 120 other than True Prophecy (or its Iron Banner counterpart) that has that perk. Its very easy to farm for, all u gotta do is speed run strikes. Its use will really depend on the perks u get for it.

I went for a pretty simple combo rampage/outlaw and it’s honesty relly fun, outlaw covers that awful reload and rampage make it’s hit like a truck. Many of the other perks for this gun seem a lil gimmicky tbh. maybe a grave robber/ swashbuckler roll or an outlaw frenzy roll but there aren’t many other combos that interest me. idk gun just feels badass, so just try it.

Outlaw, rampage, extended mag. Absolute monster in pve. Swashbuckler works as well. It’s too bad it’s not a craftable for enhanced traits. The reason 120’s are so deadly in pve is because they do max dmg. Outlaw negates reload issues and the dmg output can one shot all red bars. Sometimes even gladiators. The healing perk makes it even better. You can’t die because you’ll be one tapping everything. No good pvp traits however. Find a different gun.

For PVE, this is actually one of the best Hand Cannons right now, specifically on Stasis builds.
It doesnt have Headstone, but it does have Osmosis and Hakke Breach, so its perfect for Shatter damage, and then picking up Wells for Font of Might.

The only issue is its basically impossible to farm for a good roll, soooo, good luck (or stick to Eysluna)

If this weapon had Drop Mag, it'd be my favorite Hand Cannon ever. Alas, over a year since the Primary ammo rework, Drop Mag's still disabled on new weapons.
Fortunately, this thing's still pretty good without it. Reliable, but mundane, but... reliable. Just watch that reload speed.

Yes, there are better 120s, however, If I missed them in seasons past I can only get them from Dares, which has a low chance due to large weapon pool. If you spec into stability hard, it's actually not bad, and is something new to try. I have one with perp + small bore that feels nice. Dream would be small bore, ricochet, perp, eye of the storm + stability masterwork. PVE kinda meh traits, and even then I'm usually using an smg or fate bringer for add clear. Plus it has a break action reload which is sexy.

pair a harmony roll with lorentz driver or a fusion of your choice, while rocking rain of fire and enjoy the 2 taps. air dodge negates the horrendous reload speed and steady hands or perpetual motion help with the handling.

havent had a roll that shined in pve but frenzy still puts in some work for low end ad clearing

extremely good IF you have the god roll.

arrowhead + high caliber + steady hands + elemental capacitor -> this is the roll i have
chambered + ricochet

im sure perpetual motion would also work well. outlaw is good for the longer reload that 120s have, but not necessary imo. it will be great if you slap on a hc reloader on your arms.
great dueling weapon, hip fire is decently accurate at close ranges. using arc, it feels amazingly snappy like a 140 hc with above average handling. using void, the recoil is manageble. whether this is as good as igneous hammer, im not sure of that as i do not have a good igneous hammer. With a 4/5 roll, i think the pure poetry may be as good as or even better than the bottom dollar/dire promise with the exception from the latter's utter 5/5 god rolls. With overall stats being behind the sturm.

Will do more testing, since i have bottom dollar rangefinder + explosive.

Still waiting for a 120 with Rapid Hit and Timed/Explosive Payload outside of Bottom Dollar. Farming Gambit isn't much fun. Even when we have x2 rep weeks, the rep gains are nothing compared to crucible/vangaurd.

Decent Gun. Could've been more fun.

I have gotten 20 of these in a row from Strikes. That is a literal statement and not an exaggerated or figurative one. 20. In A Row. I hate this gun so much. Don't know/care how good it is, I just want Strikes to drop a Strident Whisper for me already.

Any bow hotswappers would be better off farming a True Prophecy with Elemental and Opening Shot and playing an Arc subclass. +50 Handling compared to Ensemble’s +30 and you aren’t tethered to your teammates in order to get the benefits. TP as a base gun blows this thing out of the water. Under-Over, even if it does have some significant benefit against overshield, is pretty niche and replaces more impactful consistency perks that 120’s need to flourish.
