The good lord baby Jesus himself crafted this phoenix from the ashes of Recluse and I could not ask for a more consistent or reliable smg in this day and age. Subsistence paired with Veist Stinger is 10/10. Frenzy on this smg is 10/10. Subsistence, Veist Stinger and Frenzy all together? An absolute lawn mower of a weapon. If you need me I'll be busy on my knees for whoever green-lit this weapon.

Pardon Our Dust is another great option. Rolls with blinding and vorpal as well. It's my go-to Nightstalker build.

Season 16: Subsistence + Adrenaline Junkie on a Verity's bow warlock WITH volatile rounds is just too good to be true. 10/10.

I think everyone who rated this poorly for the crucible never tried it there because it's known as a PvE monster with void 3.0. I noticed I kept getting pooped on by the same dude in a match, and he was using funnelweb. Like I was dying before I even knew what hit me. So, I figured I'd try it. Boy does this thing shred, and I was using my PvE god roll (subsistence/frenzy). Now with this knowledge, I will masterwork the one I kept in my vault as a "just in case" which has perpetual and rangefinder. It's just such a beast from 0-20ish meters. I'd pair it with a long/medium range weapon in the kinetic slot. Or if you're super aggro like me and can close the gaps, use a waste lander and zoom all around the map and become the most obnoxious player in the lobby. Thank me later.

Note: I hate hand cannons and I am aware 140 HCs are considered the meta, but HCs don't fit everyone's playstyle. I play an aggressive, in your face, jumping, and sliding around like an annoying prick style of game, and I simply cannot do that with a HC. Nothing is more satisfying than catching some meta slave HC user pre-aiming a corner from 30m away, and I flank him in a flash thanks to the movement speed, and melt him while he's still ADSing the same corner that he thinks I'm taking cover behind.

Everyone has already said what needs to be said about this weapon. It's fantastic. It's certainly a defanged Recluse but with the right mods and perks (Subsistence/Adrenaline Junkie or Frenzy) it still vaporizes trash mobs just as efficiently as it's forefather did.

Not even going to lie if youre caught up between adren junkie and frenzy and cant decide. Id say go with frenzy. Don't get me wrong adren junkie is fire but in the end with frenzy its more consistent because you can prolong it by taking or receiving damage from enemies. and at max adren junkie stacks youre only losing out on about 330 damage per shot. If youre using this with volatile rounds then that small damage difference means nothing. Happy farming

Bungo has heard our prayers, and Recluse is back ! I haven't tested it in PvP because, well, I don't play PvP, but as a PvE freak who spent 3000 hours over the last 16 months grinding the game, I can now finally say this is the greatest add-clearing weapon currently available, and the best SMG as well.

I don't even have a god roll yet, got a Steady Hands + Frenzy and it already does an amazing job. Can't wait to roll a subsistence + frenzy... Also, Volatile Rounds with this will help you clear dozens of adds in one single mag. This thing is UNREAL, grind for it NOW (world drop, umbrals, gunsmith engram rewards as well)

So. We all know how much of a monster this gun was back in Season 16, with Volatile Flow. It dipped just a little bit during S17 & 18, but now that Hunters have the easiest source of Volatile rounds you could think of (Gyrfalcon's), this thing has returned with a vengeance. This beast absolutely SHREDS on a Gyrfalcon's Hunter. Subsistence-Frenzy is easily one of the best combinations for this (and it's what I use, with the full roll being Corkscrew, TacMag, and the aforementioned two. This particular Funnelweb of mine has over 26k kills), only matched by Subsistence-AJ for grenade-focused builds. It's honestly disgusting just how strong this SMG is, and it's probably my favourite legendary weapon in the entire game. In fact, I like this gun so much, I even have one for PvP, and it's amazing there too. I have a Smallbore, Accurized, Perpetual-EC roll, and this feels so smooth, with the caveat that you have to be on a Void subclass. Perpetual x2 on Void gets you to have 56 Range, 86 Stability, 95 Handling, and 46 Reload. If you know your ranges with the gun, you'll be shredding almost anything, and it's real satisfying being able to cut down shotgun apes before they can get close. I pair this with a Kinetic Scout and I have the vast majority of ranges covered. Overall, I cannot recommend this weapon enough, especially if you run a Void subclass.

Never used Recluse. This lives up to all of my lack of nostalgia, and what I've heard from others. This weapon goes hard... Feel free to screenshot.

Fantastic SMG, as others have already noted. It only took me 3 months to get the subsistence / frenzy combo but it's as good as people say. I loved Death Adder but that doesn't even compare to the perks this SMG can get. Veist SMG's just feel so good and this is probably the best 900 RPM we've ever gotten in the energy slot.

Such a pleasure to use. Thing doesn't move at all. Makes a really sick sound and well. This thing clears ads like a madman. My roll isn't great but it's a blast.

Still hunting that subsistence + adrenaline Junkie or frenzy roll. I'm using a steady hand + AJ roll and holy shit, even that one slaps so I'm excited for the god roll^^

As someone who owns 3 pet funnelweb spiders of different species, I can say, Bungie got their essence down to a gun very well, they're not super aggressive, unless you tick them off, then they warn you by squirting venom out of their fangs, like when I throw my overload grenades, or proc my void elemental well, then it's bite, bite, bite, bite, bite and you're dead unless you leave immediately to go pressure bandage the wound and get antivenom or go into your immune phase/ teleport away and heal, or have a ghost and 2 friends who can use their supers every 10 seconds.

I have a perpetual motion + elemental capacitor and it’s a laser beam paired with void, these two perks sync together so much specially if you’re on controller it so easy to stay on target when you’re not moving and even more when moving

This thing is the best thing to pair with Renewal Grasps. Full Stop. Get Perpetual Motion and Adrenaline Junkie and chuck Duskfields at everyone for free 1v1 kills. Max discipline and 2 Grenade Kickstarts and your grenade is up almost all the time. Pretty good in PVE too. Volatile is cool.

I got the perk for perk god roll as my second funnelweb drop. Never went back and never questioned using it. This gun took me back to my Highschool years of when recluse was utterly dominant. This gun feels so good it got rid of any and all addictions I may have had. It fixed my relationship and is now best manning my future wedding. Best weapon ever. (Subsistence and Frenzy)

There is literally nothing super special about this gun.

It is just reliable. Very reliable.
The go-to gun in any void build, and its for a reason.
