If there is one weapon you should get out of this season for PvE - make it this one. It's arguably the best primary in the game.

Enhanced Voltshot + Enhanced Threat Detector/Feeding Frenzy (depending on the power level of the activity and proccing feeding frenzy x3 reliably) is so insanely busted. Not to mention sereph rounds stunning eneimes and the ablilty to make warmind cells if you got the spare energy in a build for free damage. Range is key so I would go with hammer-forged to because you get enough reload already from the perks and masterwork.

Using this to just melt eneimes and combine it with witherhoard to melt champions. That's not even scratching the surface of what this thing can do in ANY arc build. Element matching is becoming more and more meta with font stacking and seasonal mods. If you are an Heart of Inmost Light Titan or even Fallen Sunstar Warlock, this will be your best friend for a while to make abilites and neutral play that much easier.

For the love of god, if you can craft this weapon, please do. It's arguably better than calus mini tool, funnelweb, unforgiven, and even the new prolonged engagement in 90% of scenarios for just how good it can clear adds. Admitedly, losing demo is a bit rough - but voltshot more than makes up for it in any content the game has to offer right now.

I'd also recommend tossing on Global Reach if your build allows for it so that a cell can spawn. Additional ad clear never hurts. Another nice thing is that even if it doesn't kill the ads, they are low enough for cleanup to proc feeding frenzy/voltshot chain. The mobs get staggered a bit as well. Not to mention if you activate one in just the right spot in the new dungeon you can activate all the nodes at once

Personally my best would be Smallbore/Corkscrew -> Seraph Rounds -> Enhanced Threat Detector/Perpetual Motion (for harder content where getting rapid kills is harder) or Enhanced Feeding Frenzy and Enhanced Voltshot with a range MW since reload is already covered by third tree perks. You covered everything else perfectly tho. This is a god PvE gun no matter what your build is.

2024... I decided to roll one as I could never get a good combo to drop. This thing rips. With arrowhead brake and some minor trigger discipline - it is a melon popper. Seraph rounds go right through Hive Guardian and other shields. It staggers enemies and reloads super-fast with Feeding Frenzy prod'd. And this is without the Enhanced perks. Voltshot annihilates adds. I miss the cells but it seriously doesn't need them to slap face.

Probably better to use this as a normal voltshot weapon and use an actually good build honestly. Warmind cells kinda got nerfed into oblivion unfortunately.

Okay, I'm almost exclusively a peacekeeper double smg titan player and have been for about 2-3 years of gameplay at this point, and go flawless every weekend on PC that way. My take on this might be a bit different because I play with SMGs a bit different as a result. A quick TL;DR is first priority is get stability over 30 mark, 2nd priority is max out range from there.

For PvP the rolls I would personally recommend for dueling exchanges is one of the following in my preference order:

smallbore / accurized / dynamic sway reduction / range finder :: hits out to 22.9m with 32 stability + DSR effect
full bore / accurized / perpetual motion / range finder :: hits out to 24m with 30 stability - Hard requires you keep your butt wiggling
full bore / accurized / DSR / tap the trigger :: hits out to 21.8m with 15 stability +DSR +TTT

For kill chaining gameplay over dueling in quick play I would say:

smallbore / accurized / killing wind / range finder :: hits out to 22.9m with 32 stability + killing wind option

I know a lot of streamers and other players are going to say to go full bore/accurized/killing wind/range finder for the ultimate range build but hear me out. In a vacuum you can control a 750 rpm smg with 0 stability just fine and trading even a bit of range for a lot of stability wouldn't be worth it. However, stability does 2 key things it isn't just a "control recoil stat". Firstly and primarily it controls how quickly the reticle moves back to its origin point after bouncing whether that bounce is from flinch or recoil, and secondly it controls the severity of flinch bounces. So maybe on paper you can control the recoil perfectly at low stability, but with any stability under 30 you're going to start seeing massive flinch values that will cause you to lose dueling exchanges. I would absolutely not venture under 30 stability with your roll, and I would not count DSR +10 stab towards that 30 since it needs to ramp up. Given all that I think you have to go small bore for most rolls, and only full bore if you give up other positives to make up to stability difference.

For the second column I would strongly recommend accurized over seraph rounds, range also has a secondary effect most people don't consider similar to stability. The range stat, beyond extending max effective range, also shrinks the accuracy cone of the weapon to make it more consistent at range. I personally think giving up the bonus effects of seraph rounds is worth that raw +7 range with that in mind.

As for third column choices, personally, I am more focused on winning dueling exchanges for trials/elim then I am on kill chaining so a lot of the appeal of killing wind isn't there for me. Killing wind mainly is used for the ~4m extra range following a kill, but again requires kill chaining and costs you perpetual/dsr in that slot. Perpetual giving a flat stability buff is really nice for getting you over that 30 stability line even if you opt to go fullbore, so I would view it more as giving you 1.1m of range than giving you stability when you're crafting this. DSR is a weird perk to work out on the other hand because its effects are a lot less directly apparent. If you record spraying with and without DSR and play them back slowed down what you'll see is that without it some of your shots go off the reticle slightly in a random direction and they don't really do the same at all with it. Sometimes aim assist is there to save the day and make bloom haywire shots hit anyways, but you can be sort of cheated out of your kills by that bloom effect other times and it's just kind of frustrating over time as an avid smg player so I run DSR for consistency instead of the other options. As a sidenote enhanced DSR is noticeably better than plain DSR and is a large factor in why Ikelos has become my main smg.

For PvE the rolls I would recommend are:
smallbore / seraphrounds / perpetual motion / frenzy
smallbore / seraphrounds / feeding frenzy / volt shot

The first two columns should really never change for pve here, flinch is even more important to deal with in PvE and range is less important. For the 3rd and 4th columns I actually really like perpetual/frenzy a lot more than the volt shot set personally because it just preforms very very well all the time in every scenario. The main reason to use the second loadout is just for ad clearing against weaker opponents and jolting large targets for extra team damage. The meta hotness talked about with this is definitely the second option more so but and it is for valid reasons, I would just say give the first a try especially if you're a solo player running the class mod to boost solo player damage.

I can't stress enough how good this gun is. It is practically essential. My version 1.0.2 garnered 18,690 kills. It was the best SMG in the franchise as far as I was concerned and version 1.0.3 is even better. Bungie knocked it out of the park with this reprisal. They added perks to make it more effective in PVP and PVE. Oh, and those perks can be enhanced. I am not kidding when I say I will probably craft three versions of this gun.

To begin, why is this gun so good? Well, SMGs are probably one of the most effective primaries in the game. They're a good balance of range and damage. Aggressive frame SMGs have a higher damage profile that staggers PVE enemies at the cost of stability. You can see this in their base stats. Blood Feud has a base stability of 11. Unforgiven has a base stability of 16. Cold Front has a base stability of 7! The Ikelos SMG crushes them all with a base stability of 25. But it doesn't stop there. This thing has the highest Handling of the archetype too. That means it's the best feeling Aggressive SMG out of the gate. Anything you add to it, only makes it feel better. Whereas with other Aggressive frame SMGs, it feels like you're trying to make up for their shortcomings. The only time it gets beaten stat-wise is in zoom. Its zoom is 14, and borrowed time has a zoom of 15. This means that a god roll Borrowed Time can potentially out-range an Ikelos, but I still think the Ikelos wins that gunfight thanks to its other stats.

Its perk pool is incredibly powerful. Voltshot can clear rooms and synergizes with Arc 3.0 so well that the lack of demolitionist in this reprisal is a non-issue. Surrounded was recently buffed, and it can be enhanced. If you combine Surrounded with Threat Detector, you get insane damage, reload, and stability. My 1.0.2 version of the gun had that roll and I swear by it. Finally, when it comes to PVP perks, the choices are much improved. You still can rock Dynamic Sway Reduction and Tap The Trigger, but now you have access to rangefinder, perpetual motion, and killing wind. Oh, and it has intrinsic Genesis. Ikelos_SMG_1.0.3 is leagues better than Ikelos_SMG_1.0.2.

On top of all of this, it can summon warmind cells. It's true that warmind cells were nerfed. They're not as strong as they were, but they're still good, and don't let anyone try to convince you otherwise. You're not giving up much by putting Global Reach onto a single armor piece. Likely, the warmind cell will be worth it. I, personally, have been using a mix of elemental well mods for the sake of font of might, and Global Reach. It has been shockingly great. Though, to be clear, warmind cells aren't necessary for this gun. Often, primaries that summon warmind cells are kind of garbage without the warmind cell. That's not the case here. This gun is just flat out good. Warmind Cells are a cherry on top that you can choose to eat or toss.

When crafting your roll, I'd highly recommend using either Chambered Compensator or Extended Barrel if you're on a controller. You want the recoil at 100. Yes, 90 is very high. However, even though this gun has very high stability for its archetype, it still has a kick. That kick can be mitigated by restricting its recoil to 100. I think that's less of an issue on M+K. On M+K corkscrew or smallbore are probably your best bets, but I'd still give a recoil barrel a try to see if it feels better to you. If not, no big deal.

Seraph Rounds are a must. They're a mixture of Ricochet Rounds and Armor Piercing Rounds and their falloff multiplier (which I'm honestly surprised is still there) adds a meter or two to the gun's range. There is no better option. Even without the falloff multiplier, they are still the top option in my book.

3rd and 4th Column are tough. We are spoiled for choice. FeedingFrenzy/Threat Detector + voltshot is stellar, but Threat Detector + surrounded is nothing to sneeze at. For PVP, I would probably go with Dynamic Sway Reduction and Range Finder. Though, I'm not a PVP main and I feel less confident giving advice there. Either way, this gun has amazing 3rd/4th column perks, and that's why I'd advocate building more than one, or at least testing out rolls as you level up your gun to see what's best for you.

All in all, this is probably my favorite legendary Primary in the game. Get it. Craft it. You won't regret it.

Borrowed time only has a range advantage of 0.06m(With both of them having a max range roll). So they're basically the same range-wise. (But also you have to get really lucky to get a max range borrowed time roll whereas you can craft this one obviously)

✔️2nd best SMG archetype for PVE
✔️Can spawn warmind cells
✔️Has two top tier reload perks
✔️Has the best primary damage perk the game has ever seen (By a long shot, nothing else even comes close)
✔️Sounds sexy as fuck

Easily the best legendary primary in the game by far, probably in the top 8 primaries in the game, INCLUDING exotics.

This gun is likely better than recluse ever was. Voltshot should not have been allowed on an smg and DEFINITELY should not have been allowed on THE IKELOS smg.

There is no situation where you would not want to run this weapon outside of champ mods.

Ever since I crafted my version 3 Ikelos smg my personal life has improved dramatically. Its iconic 750 rpm sounds is music to my ears. The gun feels amazing and especially when I reload after a kill and shoot something it just annihilates everything in front of me with voltshot. It makes the D1 alpha vets and their timelost Fatebringer drop their jaws in awe at the utter destruction this thing can unleash. It makes the Tarrabah abusers run away in fear for their lives because this thing melts them from even further when I have killing wind on. All in all a very solid gun that would highly recommend crafting. 100% worth selling your soul to Luke Smith by shooting mobs in front of a loot cave for 2 hours to get this thing to where it needs to be.

Just came back after 2 year break right as season started and was blessed with a Voltshot + Feeding Frenzy w/ Seraph Rounds and Small Bore.

No weapon has brought me this much joy in this game before, I'm rocking a generic Arc 3.0 Liar's handshake build but with this weapon as its main choice. Oh baby.

The only way I could describe this feeling is just imagine doing a heist run then seeing this sneaky racoon in a cape on a near lethal dose of adderal spamming dodge and melee with chains of lightning spraying from its ass melting everything that is unfortunate enough to be in its general direction.

I have been using a feeding frenzy, volt shot roll and imo this is the best thing to happen for arc. (Haven’t used it in pvp so I’ll update my review when I do) edit: seems i cant update my rating but used this with killing wind and rangefinder and it was good not better than funnelweb but still good nonetheless I also learned you can make this even better in pve by using power of rasputin to increase damage when a warmind cell near a target, in general, if i could give new ratings it would be 6 stars pve 4 pvp.

I noticed Corkscrew is the #1 pick when it comes to Barrels but if you’re running Arc 3.0 and making traces, you can basically always count on being amplified (+40) handling, so you’re actually wasting points on Corkscrew as opposed to Smallbore. Seraph Rounds are a no brainer and Feeding Frenzy or Threat Detector is a great Voltshot pairing. Since FF is going to basically max reload and the gun doesn’t really hurt for Stability/Recoil in PVE why not toss on a Range MW for even more?

I used to hate using any smg just because they didn't feel right HOWEVER once I got the roll I wanted this might replace my baby salvagers salvo for my energy weapon of choice, absolutely recommend for anyone who wants a really good smg and/or dip their toes into the world of smg.
Also somewhere in the reviews, there is one by someone named Terro which is the guide I used to find my current roll

def the best smg in the game atm. worth crafting for sure and i dont blame you for having multiple variants of it. for pve i prefer hammer-forged, seraph rounds/accurized, dynamic sway reduction, frenzy (i know people like voltshot more but frenzy feels better to me) and a range MW.

pvp i would go smallbore, accurized/seraph rounds, dynamic sway reduction, rangefinder and a range MW.

the thing melts enemies like its buttah, worth crafting and picking it up. its iconic, its good and feels good.

This is the only gun I’ve been compelled to craft 2 of. (Damn you Bungie for not allowing multiple perks per crafted weapon!) Honestly, well worth it. Feeding Frenzy and Voltshot has worked very well for PvE, and for PvP I’ve gone with Hammerforged, Accurized, Dynamic Sway Reduction, and Rangefinder. I know that perpetual motion is more popular, but I’ve found dsr works better for me. This is THE weapon of Witch Queen.
