I now look at the mirror all of the time, and I tell myself "why didn't I get this weapon with snapshot sights?"

It is something that now plagues me, all of the damned time that is binded with me, ticking and ticking, over and over again. Before I continue on with my misery, you may need to know about why I am now lamenting about this issue that has come up on my mind. Allow me to now begin such a short tale.

When I had joined Destiny 2 in its Witch Queen phase for the first time, I was particularly excited for such one weapon, which was a re-iternation of one of my most used weapons, possibly in my career of the game: a sniper rifle known as "A Single Clap." Particularly, I didn't immediately go for the campaign, as the one thing I wanted to do was to be re-united with my beloved, my cherished sniper rifle with random rolls, and I was planning to do the campaign with friends, yet my friends were not on yet. A Single Clap could no longer suffice in our current day and age; so why not go for the Fugue-55, a more perfected version of it, a symphony of elegance packed into one bundle of pixels? That was the question I had in my mind, the moment I logged on the game and had then raised concerns for my beloved sniper rifle. So I had set out on a journey, a quest of my own concord in order to achieve my personal divinity, my magnum opus weapon. The only rolls I wanted, was a decent Fugue-55 with Snapshot Sights.

In order to achieve perfect dominance in bagging my personal divinity, I grinded various activities, yet each time, I had gotten everything but my divine weapon, the Willbreaker to my Oryx, the Taken King. Each time I did a strike, each time I opened a Gunsmith package, each time I did that damned Gambit, each time I DID CRUCIBLE WITH PEOPLE RUNNING AROUND AS HUNTERS, IN THE CRUCIBLE WITH THEIR ADEPT PALINDROMES: nothing. I almost gave up, until I then realized I shouldn't wait for friends all of this time, and just do Witch Queen. I had broken the code, but I realized I may help them later.

As I played the mission and shot through the endless armada of Cabal and Lucent Hive, I had gotten a Umbral Engram; a somewhat rare delicacy for me. I had left it aside for now, but once I would complete the mission, I would go back to the tower to decode it, possibly a chance for my divine weapon. I had soon enough finished the mission, and had then loaded up the Tower to then see what the Umbral Engram had revealed. With determination yet with a hint of hopelessness, I had walked up my virtual avatar up to Master Rahool, who had finally gotten a purpose for once in Destiny 2. I had seen the one Umbral Engram sitting there on the engram decoding screen. With a gulp and a clutched hand on my controller, I had pressed "A", the button to decode the Umbral Engram.

I had gotten it. I had gotten Fugue-55, or as it seemed. It was there, sitting on my inventory. I was relieved, and my hopelessness was erased....

...until I had realized that the roll didn't have Snapshot Sights.

I was...doomed. I was flooded by dread, by despair. I went outside, which was pouring out with thunder clapping in the background, and screamed out my pain, my misery. Purely, then it turned into anger. Anger against Bungie for not giving my Fugue-55 that Snapshot Sights perk, angry against Master Rahool for his smug-looking face as my excitement slowly faded away into the dread I have. Bargaining came next, as I asked for the mercy of God, by bargaining away all of my weapons just for my Snapshot Sights Fugue-55. But then, I layed down on the grass, defeated, as the rain struck me down. Depression. Purely, I was taken by the power of sadness. And then, I finally had to accept it: I will never get my divine weapon, my magnum opus, my pure delight.

There you have it, there is the story of my misery, my truth to my lament. Will I ever get Snapshot Sights Fugue-55? I may never know. All that I know is that I will continue to wander for it, I will continue to open engrams and complete matches and increase my reputation with vendors, until the one day I re-unite with A Single Clap perfected to my liking.

(I recommend Snapshot Sights, if you're here just for the actual review, not just my sob story. That's it. You can go now! For the Fugue-55 roll I have though, it serves me well. Only until I get my magnum opus copy.)

Thanks for the summary recommendation at the end of your review, but I was in fact here for your sob story. I can feel your pain and wish I could help. FWIW, I discuss weapon rolls during therapy sessions fairly often... but he just doesn't understand. Yoga helps a bit. Really, deep breathing is probably the simplest and most effective way to manage RNG syndrome. I'm not just some guy off the street, either. I have a minor in psychology from a university that has a campus and stuff.

i got a roll with boxed breathing and no distractions with max handling, throwing on a sniper targeting makes to just a bit slower than snapshot. highly recommend it if you can get it, I've basically dropped using snapshot on almost ever snipe i use in exchange for a helmet mod and better perks.

A truly heart wrenching story. I feel for you brother. If I could give you one of the 6 FUGUE-55's I have with snapshot sights I truly would!
(I don't use sniper rifles, they are just sitting in my vault until the day I need legendary shards enough to dismantle them hahaha)

Best review I have read on light.gg bravo!

pvp: I'd go for fluted or hammer forged + accurized + no distractions or steady hands + snap shot sights. if you like 50 zoom snipers like me, I recommend.

pve: 4th times the charm + vorpal or firing line or focused fury

does the job in PVP, No distractions + snapshot is always good but 50 zoom is a little high for M+K (Though N D does help a lot with the intrinsically higher zoom of high zoom weapons, and it can easily hit 50 stability for decent antiflinch, especially when combined with the origin trait). You could even try No Distractions + Moving Target, especially since snapshot isn't even a must have since the S17 changes.

Very solid in PvE for those without a perfect IKELOS (where have I heard this before?), and good stability + origin trait help to hit shots under pressure. FTTC + whatever DPS perk suits your scenario best is good, and autoloading can work very well too, but requires a little more effort in building around it. The only issue with FTTC is that you cannot get an even amount of bullets in the mag with this weapon greater than 4, without sacrificing boss spec. Extended mag is useless (appended and extended on their own both give 5, and when combined with backup mag they both give 7 total) and only serves to ruin your reload. After doing a bit of maths, I found that the increased reload speed from tactical mag does not offset the extra bullet from appended mag (Appended WITHOUT a reload masterwork takes 0.2845 seconds to reload per bullet (including bullets given by FTTC), whereas Tactical WITH a reload masterwork takes 0.278, which is the only scenario in which it makes sense to use tactical mag over appended in my mind. Otherwise, the time taken for Appended vs Tac without a reload MW is 0.2845 vs 0.295, and Appended vs Tac with a reload masterwork is 0.2682 vs 0.278, which means that appended not only results in larger burst DPS as it deals more damage before the first reload, but it also should in theory sustain this damage over a longer period of time. I have not tested this in game, but it should all in theory work out to give a slight edge to appended. If someone on your fireteam has lunafaction boots, then appended is always the correct choice as the +100 reload stat means that the bonus reload from tac is meaningless. If you read this, congratulations, there's more - D2Gunsmith's reload formula is different to Light.GGs, so for the sake of completeness, I'd add that although the exact numbers are different, the overall conclusion - that appended mag's extra bullet offsets the reduced reload, exepct if your tactical mag roll has a reload MW and your appended mag roll does not - remains the same.), so I would reccomend arrowhead (to clean up recoil and improve midfight swap speeds), appended mag, FTTC, and Firing line/Vorpal (Focused fury deals slightly less overall damage - as the mag size is odd, 4 bullets need to land in order to proc focused fury, but even tac mag rolls are very slightly better off running vorpal over focused fury, although the difference is smaller), depending on what encounters you're doing (e.g. don't bring firing line to rhulk unless you lack brain) or if you're running solo.

Can't believe I just spent 20 minutes of my evening writing this out.

I hate this gun. I don't know why but since it came out I just don't like it. It isn't anything against the gun, everything I've seen about it is great but I just don't like it at all.

PVE:
Has tons of great rolls so take your pick. For the first column Fourth Time's the Charm(FTTC) is your dps option but it also has flex options like Auto-Loading and Lead from Gold. For the second column Firing Line is great when you have a team, Focused Fury is great when you don't, and Vorpal does both.

PVP:
This weapon is definitely not as much of a pvp weapon but there are still some good rolls. First column has No Distractions and Steady Hands. Both great perks but they do different things. Second column has Snapshot.

All that said while I still hate this weapon, you'll find me using almost any other sniper before this one, but I can't deny the fact that it has great potential.

Season 17 brought some big changes to the pvp sandbox and snipers specifically: stability now gives flinch resistance and snapshot by itself no longer maxes ads speed (you need high handling + snapshot to reach similar ads speed on every frame besides rapid fire ones)

Going into the season I thought the change wouldn't be too bad but after trying things out, it more or less killed aggressive frame snipes. The old Occluded I had with 6000 kills or so had to be retired. After this, I started looking through my vault when I noticed a Fugue I had stashed away with an interesting roll: fluted barrel, steady rounds, no distractions, snapshot, handling mw. This put it at 72 handling and 69 stability.

It has a lot less zoom than I was used to (50 compared to Occluded's 58) so it took a few games to get comfortable but as soon as I did this was one of the best snipes I've played with. I really couldn't be happier with my roll, it almost seems like it was tailor made for the changes that came with this season. The suros origin trait on top of no distractions and the high stability all synergized so well and meant I barely ever got flinched off target. Ended up using it through my legend grind and it worked like a dream. Only took 50 games or so and I unironically think using this played a big factor in how easy it was.

Do yourself a favor and look out for any high handling/stability rolls. Crafted my Beloved already and I feel like this is a really similar feeling gun, just with a higher zoom for those who prefer that.

Wow... haven't seen a FTTC/FL sniper since we lost Soul Survivor. IIRC that used to be the DPS roll for a long while if you didnt have Izanagi's.

Probably the most versatile sniper in the game, Can roll with vorpal for pve and snapshot for pvp, the intrinsic trait is fantastic for pvp which can stack with no distractions. What I personally really love is how this sniper has base quite a bit of stability for an adaptive sniper, this makes it very easy to hit consecutive shots which is particularly valuable in pve.

(PvE) One of the only adaptives that isn't sunset that have auto loading and Vorpal paired together for DPs and, adding appended mag gives it that one extra bullet which make a 5 round to the mag. For the people who use the triple auto loading build for boss damage this gun is amazing.

Beautiful sniper. Pve, you got the fourth times plus either vorpal for boss do’s or firing line, which actually gives more of a damage boost against bosses then vorpal, provided 2 people are nearby. PvP, you have no distractions and snapshot. A+ combo. Really enjoy it.

Love this sniper. Feels really good in my digital darkness slaying hands. Got a roll w/ no distractions and snapshot sights and it slaps in both PvE and PvP.
P.S. ContriteDust84, I feel for ya, that must really suck.

As a void Hunter main for PvP on console, this thing is just great and I don't know why. I have a Range MW, No Distractions/Snapshot and that's great and all, but the gun just FEELS great to use. The void adaptive frame competitor is Frozen Orbit, which is also fantastic, but for some reason this just feels better to use. Every shot is satisfying, the gun looks cool, it shades well, it sounds great, and for whatever reason it's just a headshot magnet for me.

I was clearing my vault out and only pulled this thing to consider throwing it away, thought I'd try it out in Comp first and man, I love it.
