I've heard some negative murmurings about this perk and after using it for over 2,500 kills, I don't understand the criticism. Everybody loved Recluse, but when they put Master of Arms 2: Electric Boogaloo on some new weapons, suddenly it's mediocre? That doesn't make any sense. To be clear, this perk can trigger off of any kill, as long as it's either Dark or Light depending on the weapon the perk is on. For all my examples, I'll use my Rufus's Fury, which is Strand, for simplicity. I main Strand Hunter, so I'll use that too.

These are the things that can proc Paracausal Affinity on my Rufus's Fury when I'm on Strand Hunter:
*Kills with Rufus's Fury
*Kills with Grapple Melee
*Kills with Threaded Spike
*Kills with Threadlings
*Kills with Unraveling seekers
*Kills with a Tangle
*Kills with my Super
*Kills with my favorite Stasis rocket launcher
*Kills from shattering someone else's Stasis crystal or a frozen enemy
*Kills with a finisher

It is Master of Arms, but based off of elements instead of weapons. If you were sad when Recluse got sunset, you'll love this perk. Right now, the only Primaries that can get this perk are Rufus's Fury, which is a 720 Auto Rifle, and Mykel's Reverence, which is a rapid fire Sidearm, both of which are Strand. It doesn't work great on Special and Heavy weapons, but it's by far my favorite damage perk on Primaries.

Think of it like a combination of Swashbuckler and Adrenaline Junkie. A jack of all trades, but a master of none.

Pros:
* Triggers off of ANY ability kill that matches the alignment
* Can proc itself (Although this isn't always easy for the Primaries, or economic for the Heavies)
* Can be triggered while the weapon is stowed
* Lasts 1.5 seconds longer than Swash or Adrenaline

Cons:
* Weaker damage buff of 20% compared to Swash and Adrenaline's 35%

Overall, a generally OK perk. Personally, I think that all of RoN's weapons have stronger perks in the 4th column that Paracausal Affinity, but it's inoffensive and easy to trigger, while other perks may be more build dependent. Not that Paracausal isn't dependent on your build, but since it can trigger itself, the perk will always function at full strength. It'll just be active more frequently if you build into it.

Considering that it's the equivalent to Firing Line's 20% damage boost just for using another weapon of a similar subclass element, this is actually pretty good.
No negatives to speak of, so it can provide a great boost to survivability, if not just outright damage for even DPS phases.
Would recommend if nothing else catches one's fancy in the RoN raid loot pool.

I am all for raid perks being slapped onto new guns from completely different activities. Paracausal on Dungeon guns? Sure. Sword Logic on world drops? Sure. Sleight of Hand on nothing? Even better.
