With the holy perk combination of Triple Tap + Firing Line, this LFR is bound to be an absolute god send on most endgame PvE activities.

In my opinion, the god roll PvE is as follows:
- Fluted Barrel or Arrowhead Brake are the best barrels (nice mix of handling and stability/recoil direction).
- Ionized Battery/Enhanced Battery + Backup Mag mod for 2 extra bullets in the mag (7 in total, which will allow you to shoot 10 bullets, potentially more thanks to the origin trait).
- Triple Tap for insane DPS potential (10+ bullets shot before reloading)
- Firing Line for group content, Focusing Fury or Frenzy for solo content.
- Charge Time MW for the 500ms total charge time (which is the sweet spot between DPS and TDO).

For PvP, it's aight, I guess. It's a LFR so it will never be that meta. Opening shot is nice to have, however. Stacking MW with accelerated coils + charge time MW and getting extra handling with the barrel ought to be a good idea.

and you need to use Ionized Battery (the one that sacrifices your reload speed) to get the 7 mag. Not “or Enhanced Battery”. Confirmed by myself. I really thank your post btw.

Not sure why you're downvoted, you do have to use Ionized. I literally crafted both rolls to make sure.

Since op didnt mention it, to get the 7 in the mag you need to use backup mag

edit: bro I was just asking a question (apparently you are not allowed to do that on the internet) cause it rounds up on dim, can't even ask a question these days

Does the 7 bullets using Enhanced Battery account for/ require the bonus stats from getting the weapon to level 20 for the extra stat boost? mines currently at level 17, Arrowhead, Enhanced Battery, Triple Tap, Firing Line, Charge time masterwork, Back-up Mag and my mag is still 6.

Could an Arrowhead/Liquid Coils/Triple Tap/Firing Line (+ Boss mod) be better than an Arrowhead/Enhanced/Triple Tap/Firing Line (+ Backup Mag mod)? Like going for a More Damage Perks/Less Shots instead of More Shots/Less Damage Perks.

I think a whole extra Linear shot will do more than a 2% increase of your other shots.

Pretty much a better Reed's given that the crafting frame is given to you, it can get enhanced perks, and you don't have to play the sweatshow that is Trials.

Just to let you guys know so you don't end needlessly grinding umbral engrams drops like me, this weapon and Ammit AR2 patterns can be easily acquired by following quest in Enclave by Relic. This quest will give you two of each weapon red borders to complete patterns.

As of review, one of top notch DPS legendary heavy, very easy to get and craftable for your preference. Edelian review is spot on for roll recommendation.

PvE: its literally Reed's but void, that should be reason enough to justify the 5 stars lol

PvP: opening shot. LFRs are already heavily underrated in PvP, and this LFR is very much not an exception. you know how every time there's a guy with a lorentz, he always zooms sliding around a corner to one shot headshot you? yeah, that guy only has 22 aim assist on his weapon. now imagine a LFR with 99 aim assist, a 467 charge time, and 5 bullets; because that is this weapon lmao. opening shot + LFR targeting + targeting spec/a 2nd LFR targeting mod will bring the taipan to 99 aim assist, and makes this gun bend bullets like crazy. I am honestly surprised that PvP content creators haven't hopped all over this weapon!

Linear Fusions have been king of DPS for a while, especially when Reed's Regret hit the PvE meta with Triple Tap on a Heavy, let alone with great DPS when combined with Divinity. However, Reed's is only available from Trials which is a slog within itself for most players, especially with the high cost of focusing. However, Bungie has granted players a mighty boon with this being added. Not only can it roll with the coveted Triple Tap + Firing Line roll, but it can roll with enhanced perks and is obtained very quickly from the "Foundry Focus" quest from the Relic in the Enclave. For PvP, Linear fusions are great for shutting down supers, but the lack of Adagio makes it worse than Reed's in that regard.

IMO firing line is definitely better for group PvE content, and for solo content, Frenzy may still be the better option even if it loses to Focusing Fury in the dmg department, as it boosts handling and reload speed, and activates passively.

Ionized Battery is better than Enhanced Battery - correct? These rankings are way out of wack right now...

I dont think so, because Ionized doesn't give you 7 rounds. It still leaves it at 6, but tanks your reload speed (which even though you wont be reloading THAT much with Taipan, it's still a stat to optimize in case your Veist stinger RNG isn't good).

I would only go Ionized if you chose Clown Cartridge instead of Triple Tap bc only in that case does it lean your RNG post reload to a slightly larger mag.

Ooooh boy where to start. God tier PVE weapon, better then reeds and on par (if not better) then stormchaser, with triple tap/firing line for group content or triple tap/focused fury for solo content. With veist stringer as well i could get as many as 10 or 11 rounds in a single mag. My LFR of choice for day 1 kings fall and it did not let me down. Honestly this thing slaps and everyone should get it cause its free. As for PVP, well its a heavy LFR, your better off a lorentzs main. Other LFR can be better but given this one is free its a no brainier.

Even as an endgame player, I still lean to using this more with enhanced triple tap and firing line for bossing cause of ammo and free reloads. Must have.

Agreed. Triple Tap is the way to go IMO, even on a solo play roll that I have with Focused Fury, the perk synergy between the two is amazing.

We now got a good linear for every burn type. I’ll probably use this for solo content until I’m able to craft a Cataclysmic and for void burn nightfalls.

Roll I’m going for is

-Arrowhead Break
-Liquid Coils or Enhanced Battery
-Triple Tap
-Focused Fury
-Charge Time MW

Best LFR in the game bc it's much easier to get Font of Might with a Void build than Stasis for Reeds (also MUCH easier to get in general than its Stasis counterpart). My endgame roll IMO is Triple Tap/Firing Line with Enhanced Battery instead of Ionized Battery because Ionized doesn't increase mag size more than what Enhanced does, and Ionized tanks your reload speed (even though Veist Stinger and Triple Tap you won't be reloading THAT much). For solo play, switch Firing Line with Focused Fury for a comparable damage buff that only requires 3 shots to activate (since Focused Fury is based on half of the BASE magazine).

I 100% would recommend any new OR returning player to Destiny to go after the Taipan. By far the best DPS option based on accessibility and ease of use.

Clown cartridge, especially enhanced, works very well with focused fury. The only issue is that it does not pair as well with the origin trait as triple tap does, since it will not proc when overflowed. Triple tap firing line is probably your best bet for group play, but clown cartridge and focused fury is great for playing solo. One last tip is to aim for 6 in the mag so that focused fury will proc one shot sooner. Focused fury procs based off of the un overflowed mag size, rounded up, so six will be better.

I'm not seeing anything different with enhanced or standard clown cartridge.

Both give 9 with a 6 mag set up

Personally as a solo player triple tap frenzy is the way to go, you can easily ready it by yourself or with a fireteam, I choose to spec into stability to control recoil and stupid flinch in both pve and pvp. As for pvp fragile focus opening shot will absolutely delete anything within a mile of your reticle

After the LFR nerf, this thing still shlapps. PvE I recommend Triple Tap + Focused Fury if solo, and Triple Tap + Firing Line if in a raid/dungeon. In the Rocket META, LFRs arent really as good unless in Spire, Riven, or the GoS boss, however, the ease of access is great for newer players. PvP I recommend Fragile Focus + Box Breathing

This thing does what Reed's Regret does but better since it's craftable. Useable in endgame content, viable, strong and above all else easy to craft to be your personal god roll. Get it, do the quest to craft it, be ready for raids, GMs, Dungeons, etc. Only major downside to this thing is the fact that it takes a while to level and alot of it's more desirable perks are locked away at higher levels. It also happens to not a lot of other options for solo endgame content like solo dungeons.

It's okay in PvP but no one really uses heavy linears unless you're trying to go for a challenge or triumph.

was looking forward to this weapon, I got a triple focused roll, super excited I threw backup mag and enhanced on, and to my surprise, it only had 6 in it, I think this weapons hidden mag stat is just low enough to not round up to 7, although it is craftable, unless you want the void synergy, id chose reeds over this, but still a great weapon overall
