Indebted Kindness is the debut legendary of the new rocket-pistol frames of special sidearms. Thanks to far too much grinding of the first boss, I’ve gotten about every perk on this weapon and feel pretty strongly about it. Overall sweeping thoughts though; Yeah it’s fine. New-toy-syndrome aside, this archetype has a lot of room to grow, and shaky starts for these debuts are not uncommon. In PvE this serves as a consistency pick before anything else. Ammo reserves can hit above 50 rounds so unless you’re dumping rounds into everything that moves you should always have ammunition to spare. In higher end content it helps to bridge range gaps your primary and other specials cannot excel in and does work with champion mods for its debut season. It absolutely chunks majors and can clean through groups of minors with some ammo in the mag to spare. In PvP it is a bit punished by some ranges and how limited your ammo can be. You can do some work but this specific weapon doesn’t lend itself well to PvP, wait till a dedicated one of these debuts with some more crucible minded perk selections.

Now, if you’re looking to use one of these Rocketman sidearms in content, lets cover the rolls it can get-

First slot is your standard affair…of explosive barrels? Hard Launch and Quick Launch help to bolster this weapon’s velocity and help with its consistency in landing shots. Smart Drift and Linear Compensator also work fine for general all rounder picks. You can really get its blast radius boosted with Confined and Volatile Launch as well. This weapon has some decent splash so if you like the big boom, go for the big boom!.

On the tail of that, the second slot has a couple of standout options. I've been gravitating towards High Velocity Rounds for a quicker reload and even more velocity. Tac Mag helps bump up your on board ammo and gives some more reload speed, always welcome. But like previously you have options for more blast radius if you really hate aiming like High Explosive Ordnance.

Now we get into the big perks, where you decide to shard (for now while we have shards...) or not to shard. Firstly is the new perk Beacon Rounds. This scales up to four times and increases your reticle to show how broad your tracking range is. This has some usage and it really helps how the weapon feels but put away your delusions of hipfiring around like a Titanfall Smart Pistol. It helps but is not some insane Truth Sidearm. Lead From Gold is a staple for some double special builds but isn’t really needed for situations outside of double special. Not a bad perk but I wouldn't call it the best. The only bad perk is Off hand strike which just isn't my cup of tea. This weapon can do some work from the hip...but why are you not aiming in the first place? Besides that perk these all have some usage. Enlightened Action was on my first drop, and I loved the loop of just splashing damage then being rewarded with a quick top off. But then I got Impulse Amplifier, which I think is the best in slot for pure workhorse usage. Your reload is boosted drastically and the velocity boost on top of other potential boosts makes this thing's shots sail like a ketch along the starways, I cannot express how good it feels with this perk. Besides that loose change pairs well with Voltshot but falls in the same trap as Enlightened Action so maybe avoid that as well.

The fourth slot is where things get…worse. Voltshot for PvE is the go to for me. The reload even without boosts is not a nightmare and is relatively easy to get quicker through mods or other perks. Permeability allows you to pair this with Strand/Stasis pretty well, shame it was not in the previous slot though. Attrition Orbs has surprisingly good utility with the nerfs to orb generation in armor. Besides that? Eh. Adagio cripples how this weapon feels for me, Deconstruct pairs with its origin trait which is also not very good, and Surrounded works fine but you’ll likely not be in that situation with this weapon as it works well at midrange.

Rounding off with mods and masterworks, I’d advise Velocity or Blast Radius. Both serve the weapon great, but all masterworks are beneficial, maybe reload is the most lacking though. Mods are all player preference, I’ve been fielding Backup Mag myself but I can see using Major Spec or Counterbalance. As for its Origin Trait…meh. Lots of Scorn Totems to shoot help but this isn’t nearly as game changing as the last dungeon’s Restoration Ritual. The incoming Subjugator's utilize totems as well so maybe there’s some usage there but besides that don’t rely on this perk much unless you can get stasis crystals going. Plus as I’ve mentioned, this weapon can get its reload boosted pretty easily anyways.

Thanks for the in-depth. Voltshot is definitely the chase, but my first roll was an Impulse/Adaigo/ReloadMW, and while normally I despise Adaigo (always more dakka, never less), it's honestly not bad on Indebted Kindness. You can kinda feel the reduced RPM against majors, but I'm usually more focused on good shot placement than throwing as many rounds out as possible, so you don't notice it QUITE as much as you notice the increased damage. Right now I'm doing 16K+3K damage without, 21K+4K with.

Once I finally get my hands on a good Voltshot option, I'll probably hang onto this roll, or a similar roll.

rocket-frame sidearms are one of the best archetypes added hands down, this thing sounds satisfying and hits hard, its basically a explosive tip version of the forerunner or a scaled down xenophage for the legendary slot, excellent ammo reserves, nutty damage output especially with surrounded or voltshot and amazing versatility, I do wished in PVP it got a larger blast radius or slightly increased ammo reserves because its very flimsy in PVP due to the projectile and AOE barely doing any damage, but outside of that an incredible sidearm and I hope we get more rocket-frames in the future.

This gun is so fun in PvE and suprisingly effective. The rocket shots can not only crit, but also have impact damage and a small aoe explosion, meaning you have bullet damage, rocket impact damage and explosion damage all at once on every trigger pull. Adds will just be evaporated in all content by this thing, and it has an incredible ammo economy so that you can lay into the bigger targets after clearing out the crowd. Obviously not as much single target damage as a shotgun or fusion, but it'll get the job done. If you farm for anything from this dungeon, make it this thing.

Just to add: The impact and precision damage is a very minimal portion of the main damage that comes from the AoE explosion so don't feel like you absolutely need to hit precision hits with this weapon.

This thing is a legit monster with Adagio, (30 % dmg boost on kill) dont sleep on it, with the tracking bulets you will find it dificult to miss and it slaps harder than your drunk dad. Could not test it in pvp yet but a definite favorite for all pve content, specially with shield piercing sidearm this season.

Adagio is my favorite as well. Normally I trash all adagio rolls, but on this gun it feels great! The slightly slower pacing helps me line up my shots and the extra damage one shots regular mobs.

I tried surrounded and it is decent, but situational. Voltshot is nice as well, but I often tire of the shoot, reload, shoot, reload loop. Plus I feel voltshot doesn't always kill the surrounding mobs and I'm forced to continue shooting.

Permeability is like Osmosis, an older perk that doesn't show up much anymore, it changes the weapon's energy type to match your subclass's after using your class ability. It keeps this until stowed. So you could change it to solar, void, strand, or stasis depending on what you're running.

This gun is fun. Send tweet.

A surprise to be sure, Indebted Kindness is the first of its kind - a Rocket-Assisted Frame Sidearm, which translates to a Special Ammo Sidearm with a slow fire rate and high damage projectiles with travel time and a funky mix of sidearm and rocket launcher barrel and mag perks. Previously shown off in the Final Shape trailer, we all collectively believed this weapon class wouldn't appear until then - but here we are. Indebted Kindness has excellent ammo economy (with a special brick giving a lot of ammo), good damage that doesn't necessarily require crits, and some stellar perk options.

Perk by Perk, starting from Column 3. Beacon Rounds is a new perk that causes every kill to give your shots some solid tracking, which can stack to higher levels - get a roll with it on, try it, and see if you like it. Impulse Amplifier is here, and definitely your best general purpose workhorse perk - the increased Velocity almost makes it hitscan, while the Reload Speed bump is much appreciated given that base 28 stat. Enlightened Action is an option if you want a better reload buildup, but that relies on Crits and this archetype doesn't really need to Crit if you don't want to (plus hitting max stacks isn't easy against non-chunky targets). Lead From Gold is an option for even better ammo economy, and Loose Change is here if you want to build into elemental pickups and value a better reload boost. Offhand Strike is not a PvE perk, don't bother with it.

From Column 4, we have multiple options too. Voltshot is the obvious one - a very powerful perk that makes clearing adds and adding damage onto beefier targets a breeze. Surrounded is your strongest damage perk, allowing this weapon to put out respectable DPS, while Adagio is an easier to proc damage boost that has its downsides. Attrition Orbs is honestly better off on Primaries or faster hitting weapons. Permeability has interesting viability here - by switching its element, you can have this gun synergise with subclass effects like Volatile or Unravelling Rounds, or with mods like this seasons Solar artifact perks. Deconstruct has shockingly good synergy with Stasis - Crystal formations made by Verglas Curve, Salvations Grip, and Glacier Grenades can be struck all at once with this weapons AOE blast, and as a sidearm it has a decent base swap speed.

Overall, I would consider the best roll to be Impulse Amplifier + Voltshot, though feel free to try other options - goodness knows unless you get very lucky you'll be seeing a few rolls of this thing. As for barrel and mag perks, I would build either into Velocity or Blast Radius. Hard Launch and Quick Launch are best for the former, while Volatile Launch is best for the latter (you could also opt for different perks if you don't have those - balanced barrels are always solid). As for Magazine perks, any 'Magazine' perk except extended is hardly a bad pick, though I'm personally angling for a reload booster like Tactical Mag, Flared Magwell, or High Velocity Rounds.

In PvP... this thing isn't really built for that perk-wise, regardless of your opinion on this Frame's PvP viability. Beacon Rounds or Impulse Amplifier in slot 3 are best paired with Adagio in slot 4. Primary Ammo sidearms or Forerunner are significantly better for this sort of thing, so go grab one of those.

Overall, Indebted Kindness is a fantastic addition to the game and a great option... in PvE. Leave it out of PvP, its kinder that way.

Tons of ammo, fast reload, chunks big targets, and just enough blast radius to clear ads good (especially with voltshot)
Working with primary ammo sidearm champions mods is nice too

Deconstruct is surprisingly underrated on this thing. It's a sidearm so swapping to it is pretty fast, and also the AoE is larger than you might expect. Shoot a verglas curve shot or salvations grip and hot swap to this, shoot once and you'll hit every crystal. Impulse Amplifier + Deconstruct and Enlightened Action + Voltshot are probably the two rolls i'll keep around

well enlightened sucks with voltshot when you reload after one shot, impulse will give you 35% more velocity 20 reload and 0.8 reload animation. reload animation cuts more than reload. thats why its important to use reloaders, cos they give +10 reload but also 0.9 reload animation. like fieldprep +50-55 and 0.8 reload animation when crouching. push over 100 reload

Ridiculously fun gun. My very first roll was Volatile Launch, High-Explosive Ordinance, Beacon Rounds, and Volt Shot... let me tell you, anyone hating on this weapon is just mad because they haven't gotten a good roll on it yet. Excellent ammo economy, decently high damage for a sidearm (helps that it is a special ammo weapon), interesting and unique perk pool, and extremely good at handling red bars, orange bars, and some types of yellow bars. Not particularly good against large bosses, however. But it is an absolute monster when it comes to crowd control.

There is a multitude of perks to combine to make this weapon a monster in many types of content, except for PvP where it lacks unless you have certain perk combos. The origin trait does suck, which I personally think is it's biggest drawback. It is too similar to Hakke Breach Armaments and the new Deconstruct perk. In my opinion, it should definitely be changed to something entirely unique to compliment the dungeon better. It feels very cheap especially when compared to seasonal origin traits which can be very useful, but only around for so long, compared to a dungeon that will be staying in the game until it shuts down.

Other than that drawback it almost feels like an exotic weapon, but as a legendary, which frees up your exotic slot. Very good on Arc jolt builds. It almost feels more exotic than the actual Dungeon exotic, ironically enough.

10/10 weapon, definitely recommend farming while the Dungeon is new and is not on the rotator.

My recommendation is Impulse Amplifier / Voltshot to lean into the use of this as a jolt-applying weapon, to provide ability-synergies, anti-overload jolts, and add-clear of the kind you might otherwise use a trace-rifle for, since you get ~46 shots at full ammo. With Season 23/Wish's anti-barrier mod it pops barriers in a single hit, which is incredibly convenient for some activities.

Some quirks to note:

(1) Cannot make precision hits, which means you cannot do things like pop Tormentor shoulder-pads. In fact, the mini-rockets seem to literally bounce off.

(2) Enlightened Action does not appear to do anything, it doesn't help reload speed anyway, and I suspect the perk hasn't been adjusted to work with (mini) rockets. (It exists for bows, so it's probably not a hitscan-only thing.) Until this is fixed, look for Impulse Amplifier as a way to speed up reloading instead.

(3) Beacon Rounds only gets stacks from enemies killed regularly, not from those indirectly killed by using Voltshot.

The Gun: Indebted Kindness is a stellar addition to any arsenal, offering a remarkable blend of power, versatility, and reliability. This rocket-assisted sidearm doesn't just deliver on its promises; it exceeds expectations in every aspect.

First and foremost, let's talk damage. This beauty packs a punch, unleashing a devastating blow with every shot. Whether you're facing off against tough adversaries or swarms of enemies, the Indebted Kindness ensures that your foes will feel the full force of your firepower. It's a true game-changer on the battlefield.

One of the standout features of this weapon is its generous ammo size. You won't find yourself constantly scrambling for reloads with the Indebted Kindness in hand. This ample ammunition capacity ensures that you can keep the pressure on your enemies without interruption, allowing for sustained and relentless assaults.

Versatility is another area where the Indebted Kindness shines. It seamlessly pairs with any class and subclass, adapting to your preferred playstyle with ease. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a newcomer to the fray, this weapon accommodates your needs and preferences, making it a valuable asset in any situation.

One concern that often plagues rocket-assisted weapons is the risk of self-damage. However, the Indebted Kindness bucks this trend by delivering its explosive payload without inflicting massive harm upon the wielder. This ensures that you can wield its formidable power without fear of unintended consequences, further solidifying its status as a top-tier choice for discerning guardians.

In summary, The Gun: Indebted Kindness is an outstanding weapon that excels in all areas. With its potent damage output, ample ammo capacity, versatility across classes, and minimal self-damage, it's the ideal companion for any sort of activity, whether you're tackling challenging missions or engaging in intense PvP battles. If you're looking for a reliable sidearm that never fails to deliver results, look no further than the Indebted Kindness. Highly recommended.

Super fun weapon in pve with great damage over reserves and good damage per brick picked from the ground. Pretty much needs to have voltshot in the 4th column in the 3rd you have some okay options like loose change and enlightened action then the great options like lead from gold impulse amplifier and beacon rounds.

Beacon rounds description is terrible, if you want the perk to function with rounds that track properly there is some setup but when it’s working you can hit a target while not even looking at them but you need beacon rounds X 4 and you have to initially aim to hit and mark your target.

You can test this by ramping up to X4 then manually shooting a boss in ADS to mark it then you can literally hide behind a piece of cover and the rounds will bend to hit the target until it is dead. Better than truth tracking but with some setup.

Column 1 and masterwork if you focus on velocity it makes the weapon feel better blast radius is also decent. Range stability and handling don’t do much for you in PVE range because the explosive part is the majority of your damage handling is high because it’s a sidearm and stability because it’s a slow firing RPM anyway.

Column 2 tactical mag has weird interactions that allow you to pick up more ammo per brick but it might get patched eventually

Some notes on a few third column perks since this weapon debuted at the beginning of last season: I believe Loose Change improved mid-season 23, by adding increases to ADS movement speed (reducing that penalty, technically) and aim assist; Beacon Rounds may have also improved with reload speed in an even later update. Both of these pair nicely with Voltshot in the fourth column, go with Beacon Rounds over those two if you haven't had any such roll with voltshot -- BR lets you slap targets with those little rockets with more smoothness. Feels great. LC feels quite good now, on these lighter weapons at least, and depending on how well you apply your debuffs it is viable in pvp. All that being said, aim for Impulse Amplifier if you don't want to settle at all.

As for col 4, I've also used Adagio and Surrounded in both PvX. They're serviceable, but voltshot is your bang for buck. Keep any voltshot roll until you get BR, LC or Impulse + Voltshot. I have two rolls with volt, one with BR and the other with LC. I have a third roll with ImpAmp and Surrounded (it's decent), and I sharded the ones with adagio and anything else.

This weapon was a great debut for rocket pistols, but has since met its match or even been supplanted by its newer cousins in strand & solar elements. Those have more interesting origin traits, their fair share of an excellent suite of third/fourth column perks, look cooler, and are easier to obtain (though farming Warlord Ruin's 1st encounter for this pistol is fairly simple and quick). I'd rate one of those other ones 5/5 for pve, this one is like a 4.5 / 5. Very good.

PVE: This thing does solid damage surprisingly. Crit shots not required which is nice for some encounters. My roll is volatile launch, tactical mag, impulse amplifier and voltshot.
PVP: Haven't tested it much but seems kind of meh. Forerunner much better imo
Overall worth farming for. Although, I really dont understand the origin trait. They really whiffed on that one.
