"I nostri nemici si credono divinità e re. Dimostra loro che si sbagliano." - Callisto Yin
"Come stiamo andando?" gridò verso l'androne.
"Pazzesco, vero?
Sloane avrebbe apprezzato.
warlock: WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CAN'T JUST USE A SWORD ON ATHEON THAT'S A TERRIBLE IDEA
Titan, noted alpha chad epic man: this sword is big and looks cool and makes a big damage number which makes my brain feel good
We miss you, Sloane.
AND WELCOME TO THE JAM
This weapon is single-handedly one of the most potent raw DPS dealers of the lot if you play your buffs right.
Think with me here. One of these swords with Hungry Edge/Jagged Edge + Heavy Guard (default) + Relentless Strikes (or Flash Counter, more on that later) + Counterattack. That column 4 perk provides 50% additional damage for a 2 second duration, a rather ungodly amount for something so easy to trigger. But it gets better; pair this sword with Solar 3.0 and Strongholds and equip the "Lucent Blade" perk on a piece of armor. Why? Get this.
Solar 3.0 has a perk called "Radiant", which you can proc in a varying number of ways. My preferred fashion is with a twisted version of the classic Bonk Titan build, with my take designed more around buff stacking and healing than spreading Scorch. This ability-- once active-- grants your equipped weapons a 25% damage boost in PVE, including the sword. Already, you're looking at 75% increased damage for doing nothing but blocking and hitting things.
Next, we have Strongholds. Most of you might have looked at that and wondered, "why would I put that crap on?" The answer? If you're a Titan running Tier 10 resilience and have enough sense to use whatever the current season's version of thermoshock plating is, you're already pretty hard to kill. This just makes you that much harder to kill, but with the added perks of the following:
* Perfect blocking heals you proportional to the amount of damage you would've otherwise received. To put that into context, a ground slam from Alak-Hul would heal you to max, while some weak shots from nearby Acolytes would only add a little chunk to your health.
* In addition to healing you, activating this Stronghold perk coincidentally activates the Counterattack perk on your Sword, giving you an opportunity to deal full damage to your opponent after setting up the other two perks.
*The Strongholds maxes out your Guard stats on any sword you equip, meaning that Crownsplitter's already stupid good block is now even better.
Then, we have the added option of Flash Counter, which can make dueling Major enemies a cakewalk. Suppression and weakness on a non-class-specific build? Who could say no to that?
To put the icing on the cake, we have Lucent Blade, which is an ability based on "Charged with Light." This mod can be activated in a number of ways, but my preferred use is in tandem with an elemental well setup tied centrally to hitting and killing things with my Throwing Hammer, which has the secondary bonus of creating sunspots and giving me Radiant. However, once this perk is active, hitting an opponent with a sword will increase your damage by 35%. Do note that adding an Arc mod in the same piece of armor will allow you to activate Lucent Blade's secondary perk, which increases the Charge Rate on your sword. Very helpful noting how slow Crownsplitter's base regen is.
Friends-- these three perks, all of which can be activated through relatively reliable means, can grant this sword a whopping 110% damage increase. It was already a DPS monster on its own, holding its ground in DPS charts, but there are some seriously nutty things you can do with this perk selection and with non-seasonal mods. If you have a good roll lying around, it's time to throw on a gray shader and equip whatever Last Wish transmogs you might still have. It's knight time.
But is too slow to use it in pvp
Vorpal is probably better due to the low swing speed and low ammo
All hail our beloved Heavy Sword!
All I can hope y'all get is the following:
-Jagged Edge,
-Relentless Strike
-Surrounded OR Whirlwind Blade OR Vorpal
If you got that, it will chew the beloved life out of anythin' and eveythin'.
And if you encounter a Bubble Titan or Well Warlock, just bonk at em', you'll be fine.
Look out for Jagged Edge/Relentless strikes/Vorpal Weapon !!!
Shreds everything <3
Anyway, unlike its contemporaries Quickfang and Eternitys Edge, this actually has some excellent rolls in its whopping four perks - rolls that its gilded craftable counterpart Throne-Cleaver CAN'T replicate. Relentless, Whirlwind, and Counterattack are all absent from Throne-Cleavers pool, giving Crown-Splitter a distinct leg up in that regard and makes it the superior DPS option thanks to Relentless and Whirlwinds classic combo. Tireless is nice if you like add clear, while the other two perks in column 3 are situational at best. Surrounded and Counterattack can be good, but they're a lot more situational than the other two perks - Vorpal is alright if you like a free 10% damage boost, but Whirlwind is the standout here.
Pick what you want, honestly, and Crown-Splitter will hardly let you down. Unless you're a Warlock or Hunter, in which case you will absolutely be let down because you can't even pick it up. Exotics I can understand, but please just let my Warlock be a real Praxic Inquisitor and smite foes with holy wroth already.
