It's a new season! Popularity ranks can change rapidly at the start of a new season, especially on new weapons.

Be careful jumping to conclusions for a week or so as the meta starts to shake out.

TIP: Popularity Ranks

The letters F thru S below are Popularity Ranks. They measure how popular your roll is versus the most popular roll for this weapon among the global community. The most popular roll is ranked S+. The least popular is ranked F-. Popular doesn't necessarily mean "good"; unpopular doesn't necessarily mean "bad". Use what you enjoy!

remember folks, incandescent doesn't automatically make a weapon good. for pvp, you have a pretty solid neutral adaptive pulse that'll do exactly what you expect it to do. no more, no less.
don't let incandescent fool you, you are NOT immune to propaganda. this isn't a pve gun. i won't even tell you what perks to chase for it in pve, just don't do it. bxr does everything it can do but better.

bxr still outclasses it in pvp as well, but if you want something that feels rangier and a little weightier, this won't do you any wrong. moving target/kill clip.

Got a roll with smallbore/AP rounds/Iron Grip/Iron Reach, the 81 range makes it crazy good at beating any other pulse in a crucible matchup. The incan version is fun enough but not nearly as fun or unique as the double Iron Perk roll.

Oh, hey, an Adaptive Pulse Rifle that can get 100 Range. Sure, your Stability (or with Iron Grip, Reload instead) goes through the floor, but... neat.

Edit: Oh, and it can get both Gutshot and Headseeker! I've been waiting for a weapon like this!

Have you (or anyone else reading this) seen it drop with Gutshot/Headseeker, I've been trying to get that drop just to see what it's like since the gun came out, I think it's been 4 seasons and I haven't gotten ONE, don't even know if it's possible anymore.

Haven't got one but neither gutshot nor headseeker show up as unavailable perks on the current version of Jorum, so it should be able to roll them.

Don't sleep on the Iron Grip/Iron Reach combo. I got one with arrowhead, ricochet, iron grip, iron reach with a range MW and it feels so nice. This thing is a laser.

Some big changes are coming in the Into The Light sandbox update, and with it comes the opportunity for The Claw™ to reign supreme, among current meta shifts that favor it.

Two big things to note:

1. Adaptive Pulses are getting damage bumps to their Precision damage and Bodyshot Damage, 2% and 5% respectively.

2. Incoming flinch is getting reduced by 15%.

Previously Jorum’s felt a little lackluster in comparison to other 390’s because of its inability to roll with Zen Moment, which is basically mandatory on most weapons that can roll with it. The damage increase and flinch reduction will help make this absence less impactful.

But the main draw would have to be Incandescent, and I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about this, because on a 390 this is huge, especially because this current meta emphasizes grouping up.

Since 390’s need an extra bodyshot bullet after two full-crit bursts to kill, what would be a .60 second time-to-kill is instead a .93 second time-to-kill, and for the sake of balance this is good. However, Incandescent explosions do about on average the damage of one or two bodyshots before lingering scorch damage, leaving any opposing guardians in relative proximity (8 meters) to one you’ve just downed primed for a full two-burst for a .60 TTK. Pair this with the ability regen scorch-related fragments and you’re regenerating your abilities super quick as well.

If you can stand to tank your reload I would shoot for Iron Grip + Incandescent, otherwise Moving Target isn’t a bad pick. Jorum’s is a bit niche outside of Solar subclasses as admittedly you’d be better off with Third Axiom for the sake of Zen Moment + Elemental, or Syncopation if you can tolerate the sight unlike myself. However, being able to make use of fragments and exploit groups of enemies, whether it’s in 3v3 or 6v6, gives this Pulse a crowd-controlling edge that makes it a worthwhile pick.

Some notes;

For the 1.5% of players that swear by Rain of Fire (myself included) Iron Grip is an amazing pick, as you will never feel the reload deficit you receive as a result of using this perk. Additionally, the radiant buffs your Fusion kills give you allows for consistent 2-bursts with Jorum’s. Considering its Solar affinity, this weapon was basically made for Rain of Fire (ignoring Vex Mytho of course).

If at all possible you should try for Extended Barrel or Chambered Compensator as your barrel of choice. For whatever reason the difference between base recoil direction and the +10 from one of these barrels is like night and day, makes the gun feel much more stable.

This will be a "does it feel good to me" gun if I'm going keep one long-term.

PVP: I mean, it's technically better in every way except stability (by 2 points), AA, and AE than Forge's Pledge which is another solar, adaptive frame, Iron banner pulse rifle. It's also competing in the energy slot with the BxR, Third Axiom, Stars in Shadow, and Yesteryear which are just generally much better PVP pulse rifles with significantly larger perk pools (and the BxR has enhanced perks). I like Offhand Strike/Iron Grip + Headseeker/Kill Clip personally.

assuming that bungie recognizes how terrible the decrease in target acquisition is and tunes it a bit, that's definitely a roll to keep an eye on. basically free damage

It's an alright pulse, you need iron grip 3rd column if your running iron reach because it bounces like crazy without it. The stability decrease of iron reach makes it unusable without it. You probably want to drop the iron banner perks and go for moving target headseeker or kill clip. Arrowhead brake and ricochet rounds are the column one and column 2 perks you want, range or stability mastwork. It's a pulse so it'll already reach out and touch some people so it's entirely up to the user on what perks they want. Offhand strike and kill clip is an interesting combo if your good at hipfire with weapons. I'd give it a 3 out of 5, syncopation is better imo cuz it's craftable and you can get the same roll (moving target headseeker) and you can get rangefinder on it if you aren't feeling headseeker. This is just a worse syncopation with less perks

Last Perdition is a way better pulse rifle in the same slot (48 meters of range over Jorum's 40 meters at max range because of scope). If you do not have one, though, this is a very solid option with moving target/headseeker or iron grip/iron reach
