This exotic is immediately S tier. Soon, you’re going to see hunters using this everywhere. In PvE it’s a 35% damage buff that lasts for 5 seconds which can have insane uptime with certain builds, and in PvP it’s around 15% with a 2 second timer I believe. This allows for precision hand cannons to 3 tap up to 9 resilience, adaptive pulses to 2 tap, fusion rifles to kill from much farther away, precision sidearms to 3 tap, 140 hand cannons with kill clip/memento mori to 2 tap, and so much more. It’s crazy how much uptime you can have with this damage buff in both PvE and PvP. Just wait, people are going to be crying for a nerf to this thing soon. It’s practically the opposite of omnioculus. I love this exotic and it’s design.

> it shouldn't have the damage buff at all in crucible

You do realize that's ALL it does in pvp right?

At first, I entered with the thought of "How would an exotic even compete with Omnioculus for viability?". Then I got this thing from a Lost Sector, and my judgement turned a full 180. This thing is stupidly powerful.

Let me be clear that this exotic used to grant a damage boost that made this incredibly strong in PvE and PvP alike. However, this has changed, now instead granting Volatile Rounds when leaving invis. In PvP this is quite a nerf for sure, but in PvE... dear god, this is my main Void exotic now.
Volatile Rounds has a ~10 second cooldown. Rock 100 Mobility with double Utility Kickstart and your dodge also has a ~10 second cooldown. With this alone, you can already chain Volatile Rounds near indefinitely. What's not to love?
This gets even crazier with Collective Obligation, which no longer gets the damage boost from the previous iteration of Gyrfalcon. If you run Gambler's Dodge with the same 100 Mobility + 2x Utility Kickstart setup, you can also have your weakening available every 10 seconds. Dodge near enemy, leave invis, throw smoke bomb on target, shoot same target and you immediately have a Leech for both Volatile and Weaken. Again, with how often you become invis and how often you can dodge, both of those debuffs can have a permanent uptime, especially with Void Leech itself having a 15 second duration.
Of course, you want to rock Stylish Executioner with this thing, giving invis on any kills made with Collective while Void Leech is active, or any other target that's void-debuffed. This makes it even more certain that you get Volatile Rounds... a ton.
Lastly, you can run Echo of Instability to get Volatile Rounds on grenade kills. This can be absolute overkill, seeing that you already have Volatile available whenever you want with the previous parts of the setup, but hey, the more the merrier.

TLDR: Definitely use this over Omnioculus if you want to be aggressive, and would tie for me as the best void (Hunter) exotic in the game currently. Seriously, don't underestimate this thing's potential.

Recommended setup:
Gambler's Dodge
Aspects: Vanishing Step, Stylish Executioner
Fragments: Echo of Obscurity, Echo of Persistence, [Flexible]
Mods: Reaping Wellmaker, Font of Might, (Bountiful Wells, Elemental Arnaments or Elemental Ordnance)
Weapons: Any void weapons, ideally Collective Obligation

Just to add, Collective Obligation is by no means a requirement! I have access to a Swashbuckler / Subsistence Gnawing Hunger AR, and the Proc madness with Gyrfalcon's & Stylish Executioner just ERADICATES groups of enemies in PvE. Absolutely loving this combo!

A repulsor brace weapon also works great with this, and you can use echo of starvation and echo of cessation for all 3 void buffs. 10/10 would use to kill a god and turn them into a gun

Omni's sister. Instead of a defensive playstyle this enables an aggressive invis build that can let you go nuts. Immediate S tier, enables a playstyle I've been wanting to have supported mechanically since TTK.

Anyone knows if this stacks with other buffs, or what buffs does it compete with, cause a 35% dmg bonus may be really good for dps.
5 gyrafalcons and one omino would be a good meme dps setup.
It also procs volatile in the enemies around you, so if you use stylish you get basically free finisher invis

After testing here's what I've found: the only thing the Hauberk stacks with is Font of Might. Not Radiant, HEF, or Surprise Attack. For around 68.75% damage increase, using a Solar scout rifle point-blank body shots against Dregs. I have never tested damage before so I'm not sure what the "standard" testing place is. Here's my numbers:
3488- Normal Damage
4709- Hauberk Buff Alone
4360- Radiant Alone
4709- Radiant + Hauberk Buff Together (Stronger Buff Wins, No Stacking)
5886- Font + Hauberk Buff
5460- Font + Radiant

So Font + Hauberk is the winner at 5886 damage.

You did a great job with this! The spot where everyone generally does damage testing is against poor old Carl (the boss) in the conflux lost sector on Nessus.

This exotic in PvE is a blast! Basically Omni's brother, and just a slightly different playstyle. But most of my testing was in PvP. Spent around 6 hours straight with this exotic on, and I believe it's pretty mid tier. It's decent but nothing game breaking or insane as many would have you believe! My MAIN issue with this exotic in PvP is the 2 second damage buff and the first shot while STILL in Invis does not give you the damage buff. This in my opinion really slogs this exotic down and makes it from a potential S tier, never taking this exotic off, to a C tier even D tier if you are playing against smart players. A good player will shoot you while you are still invisible, and once you shoot back your first shot from a handcannon, for example, won't be buffed because your still invisible which in turn then makes this exotic completely useless because it still takes 3 headshots to kill, and you'll end up losing the fight! There are a lot of problems with this exotic because of the "must LEAVE invis to get the buff" gimmick, and the buff only lasts 2 seconds, so your timing leaving invis and going for a kill is an insanely small window. I really only had success with this exotic while using any sort of Fusion weapon, (Liner fusions, fusion rifles, arbalest, Devils Ruin, Plug one) Because WHILE CHARGING it removes the invis so you get the damage buff = Very strong. Every other weapon combination with this exotic is useless IMO and your better off sticking with Omni in PvP.

Might be a bit controversial, but I honestly like this vest with Manticore. It's catalyst gives you an overshield now, so it's much easier to use, and the invis from stylish really helps when you're hovering. Also haha void go boom

First of all this exotic is 35% dmg boost out of invisibility. Couple that with font of might and you get + 25%. Add collective obligation, the raid pulse exotic from VoW, its 20% when you have a void leech which is always with the good fragment and the gun reload itself when you kill something while void buff active.

Let me tell you something this synergy is so good it's totally insane the damage you can output.
Just add Taipan to go bananas on boss DPS.

See you around guardians.

Taipan is craftable, which means that it can get enhanced perks, which includes Triple Tap/Field Prep (more ammo) and Firing Line. Literally everything else being equal, it would just be a wash between the two when it comes to boss dps, and even then the only thing Reeds has going for it is 5 more stab.

My point: Taipan is real close to Reeds with a slightly different perk pool, improvable perks, and no need to grind trials for.

Idk why you're being downvoted, its true. Stasis wells are free during boss dps with your well-lock using supreme. I agree taipan is easier but being easier doesn't mean better lol. Sure outside of a raid taipan on void hunter would be the better pick.

My favorite exotic bungie has ever made for hunters.

Here's the lowdown:
First part:
After exiting invisibility from any source, recieve "damage boost" buff for 5 seconds. This is an empowering weapon buff that provides a bonus 35% damage to your weapons in pve (15% in pvp?). Empowering means this buff doesn't stack with radiant, high-energy fire, surprise attack, etc.

Second part:
When invisible, finishing a target will apply the volatile debuff to it and grant the "Reserved overshield" buff to the user and nearby allies. This buff massively increases your class ability regen (basically instant on hunter) and on the next use of your class ability will grant the user an overshield and remove the buff.

Like it says, the damage increase kicks in briefly after coming out of invisibility. So a good pairing may be a bow, but definitely Devil’s Ruin- by the time its charged, the damage boost kicks in.

or just use the arbalest/lorentz driver. It will one shot anybody running lower than like 6 resilience so most hunters which is usually like half of the crucible lobby.

This exotic has a secret additional effect of making targets volatile when you finish them while invisible. Even without that, this makes void hunter stupidly powerful.

Combine with Rat King for easy add clearing. Also allows to use this with Solar, Arc and Stasis subclasses.

Fun to use in PvE. Haven't used in PvP.
Terrible name, but the exotic perk is a reference to the rock opera "Tommy", so that gets a plus from me.
Would get a higher score if Bungie just added an ornament called "Pinball Wizard" to it.

Once you find out what weapons you like, and which one of those can roll with repulsor brace, you slowly figure out that building a collection of all weapon types that roll repulsor brace for champion mods.... so now... you have an add clearing, overshield monster of a weapon while using this exotic, without anything to do with the weapon but one mod. this is the ultimate "I hate abilties, i wanna have fun with guns" type of exotic, and I love it, so very much (and for a tip, new crucible pulse has repulsor, pretty good). For PvP its kinda dead, maybe you can pull off something, but again I try to go more gunplay over abiltiy spam in crucible, so I just swap it out for dragons shadow and call it a day, up 2 u tho.

An excellent exotic that gives Void Hunter real teeth to compete with Solar and Arc in PvE. This exotic, if properly built for and executed on, can translate to a 35% damage boost all the time, dramatically improving Hunter's neutral game. In addition, that 35% bonus benefits from the Law of Percentages, and as such should be combined with an extremely high damage heavy weapon, such as Parasite. Early testing indicates that with this, parasite, and the tether, damage numbers can easily reach 600k with a single shot. Double points if you work font of might into that somehow.

you could run the void fragment that makes enemies explode which would produce a solar well but if i'm not mistaken you need to be on solar for the font of might to proc.
