TIP: New Season & Popularity Ranks

It's a new season! Popularity ranks can change rapidly at the start of a new season, especially on new weapons.

Be careful jumping to conclusions for a week or so as the meta starts to shake out.

TIP: Popularity Ranks

The letters F thru S below are Popularity Ranks. They measure how popular your roll is versus the most popular roll for this weapon among the global community. The most popular roll is ranked S+. The least popular is ranked F-. Popular doesn't necessarily mean "good"; unpopular doesn't necessarily mean "bad". Use what you enjoy!

don't listen to those nerds, this can roll with 100 range, frenzy/slideshot, and opening shot. dust rock has been dethroned as last. now go, and crossmap some peeps with a shotgun, my child.

This is a strictly PvP shotgun. There are so many shotguns that outshine this one in the secondary slot in PvE. In PvP though, my friend and I tested it, and it can kill up to 9.6-9.8 meters even in this new sandbox. It's an absolutely insane shotgun with high range and precision. Grab one, and slay out guardians.

Interesting shotgun in both PvP and PvE, but not the best of either environments. Rifled Barrel/Assault mag/Full Auto/One-Two Punch is an incredibly strong god roll for PvE, but it is limited by mag size. It has better stats than Retold Tale for PvP, the lack of quickdraw and weak 1st perk hurts Prophet of Doom in PvP. It does, however, have access to opening shot. Overall strong, but not the very best option.

Slideways is the only handling perk this shotgun has, but it’s pretty nice with sg targeting. What really sticks out is the high range stat and opening shot. This nasty fella hits farther than retold tale, and has a badass name to boot.

Slept on in 2021 after all the SG nerfs(pellet spread and range). Its also a Ever so slightly superior Fractethyst(4more range). It has a poor Handleing value but this can be compensated with SG dex and the mod "Quick Charge", Its a tad slugish though with out it however. But worth investing the mod space for.

I have 16000 kills with this weapon in PVP. It's pretty good. Use what you like and don't let anyone tell you what to do!

@FriendieEndie is mistaken like I was. This gun cannot roll with SlideSHOT—the perk in column #3 is SlideWAYS. Slideshot increases your range after sliding, whereas Slideways increases your handling and stability (which is pretty pointless on a shotgun).

Opening shot is nice to have, but even with Full Choke + Accurized + Range MW, it won't add noticeable OHK distance, it'll only help the pellets on that first shot land more consistently.

I have a PvP god roll. It doesn't outrange felwinters and isn't better than mindbenders. Since mindbenders is sunset though for PvP I'd recommend this if you don't have felwinters. Great range good mobility plus only precision frame that's not a slug now after sunsetting. Feels good looks good just wish the sight on it was better. As for PvE just farm DSC until you get heritage this gun doesn't compare. It's fun and cool looking but isn't better.

I have a mindbenders and this. Mine has rifled barrel, accurized, feeding frenzy and opening shot with a handling masterwork. I had another prophet with one two punch but then I got a god rolled shotgun from Eris (forgot what it was called) and it's vastly better in pve.

Between those two, prophet is far more consistent unless you have a god rolled mindbenders which is obviously better in pvp. I'd put this as the best second option in pvp. It just takes getting used to.

As spartanlord said, good but not the best. It does bear the distinction of being the second shotgun with Genesis, but Badlander (the prior one) is also Arc and most people would prefer a rapid-fire for PvE anyways. You could certainly run a Genesis/One-Two Punch roll of this, though, and get two pretty excellent perks on one gun (Genesis refunds ammo directly to the magazine on Primary and Special weapons if you match shield elements).

In a post-Season 19 world, with Shotguns being given fixed spreads dependent on their archetypes, Prophet of Doom being doomed (hehe) to be forgotten in the back of Garden of Salvation seems downright unfair. Thanks to the tight, easy-to-use, upright-oval spread of Precision Shotguns, Prophet of Doom might be one of the friendliest faces in the world of Shotguns. It's not all-powerful, it's not going to wrap its arms around the meta and snap its jaws in half like a gator wrestler, but no matter where you go or what you do, if you need an Arc Shotgun (presumably for a Font of Might build), Prophet of Doom will be there for you.

While it's only got four perks per column - par for the course for a pre-Beyond Light weapon that survived being sunset - any conceivable role you'd need this weapon to fill, it can fill with the right set of two, and while the small selection is a bit vanilla, it also means it's not hard at all to get the one you want, as long as you're patient. Slideways and Opening Shot is obvious and easy for pure PvP; Disruption Break lets you blind enemies without a Grenade Launcher for solid crowd control; Full-Auto or Feeding Frenzy with Rampage can work just about anywhere; and, of course, One-Two Punch is here, if you want it on a shotgun that's easy to line up a meatshot with.

Oh, and one last thing - according to this very site, the weapon's curated roll only can get High-Impact Reserves and Field Prep, which is very... odd... for a Shotgun. Assuming that's not just an internal placeholder for the API and actually obtainable somehow, it's uh... noteworthy.

Has gotten better in PvE thanks to ARC fragment Spark of Beacons - absolutely disgusting with Shield Disorient in Match-Game settings, and can be a deadly tool with one-two punch for Arc Melee builds. I think Found Verdict probably gets better mileage, but definitely don't overlook this gun.

100 range, one-two punch, frenzy, slideshot, full auto trigger system (raises firerate for shotguns), etc. this gun is overhated and underrated.

This is definetly one of my favorite shotguns right now. i use to hate this thing, but oh i was so wrong. this thing feels as if it kills from SUPER far, its got an absurd amount of range for a precision. the only thing lacking are some of the perks, but it atleast gets 1-2 punch for PVE or opening shot for PVP.

Rampage and full auto are also really good for either
