Bureaucratie

The 2nd stasis scout rifle of Episode Revenant, Red Tape (Lightweight, 200 RPM) has some different options compared to Live Fire (Precision, 180 RPM).

PvE - Rimestealer/Headstone will be a combo people go for, especially if you don't have that pairing on Live Fire. Aside from that, Red Tape has some good damage options in Column 4, something Live Fire really lacks. Both of these scouts get Rampage, but Red Tape can also roll One for All and Explosive Payload, two popular options for scouts. Column 3 has Demolitionist for grenade builds, and Adrenaline Junkie is in column 4 if you're trying to pair those together. There's also FTTC paired with Focused Fury to try and chain that 20% damage buff, but it's hard to recommend that when One for All is sitting there with a 35% damage buff. Some good perk combos, but I'm not sure this is replacing scouts that are already in vaults, considering limited vault space.

PvP - At base, 200 RPM scouts have a 0.90 TTK (3C1B T7 Resil and lower // 4C T8-T10 Resil), which is very middle of the road. I would really recommend just using MIDA Multi Tool if you wanna run a lightweight scout in PvP, as it just has better stats and better overall feel. Column 4 lacks great options for PvP if you are looking to shift the TTK, you would need Rampage x2, Adrenaline Junkie x3, or Focused Fury / OfA to be active. That's asking a lot of all those perks. Explosive Payload is a decent option if you are confident in your dueling abilities, but scouts just struggle in the current meta of pulse rifles and hand cannons unless you sit on the edges of the map. There are nice options in Column 3, like Lone Wolf, Keep Away, maybe Closing Time.

TL;DR - This scout has perk pairings that can work, but there are just flat out better scouts in the game. Guardian Games will be around in a few months, and Taraxippos (same frame but strand) is just flat out better imo, and that's before they update the perk pool with newer perks. Grab a Rimestealer/Headstone combo if you want/need one, or go for your preferred damage perk for higher end content. And if you want to bring this into PvP, well good luck to ya!

Just to note that FTTC+FF is used more for aiding DPS on chunky targets that have no more red bars left to feed a perk like OFA. I use perks like FF or Precision Instrument in weapon-swap rotations involving hand cannons or scout rifles.

There are already a couple of very in-depth and good reviews by M1staCo1e and Zanzion so I won’t get in the weeds on things they’ve covered.

But I did want to highlight an overlooked unique perk combination which is Attrition Orbs and Explosive Payload. As of season 25, this is the only primary weapon to roll this combo and Uzume (NF sniper) is the only other weapon that can roll it at all. Every shot with EP counts as 2 hits and since AO is based on hits, not rounds, you can literally create twice as many orbs.

I can consistently produce 2 orbs per magazine and 3+ if I have refilled with Dark Ether origin trait. It’s a very good utility roll that feeds your orb engine while also benefitting from that EP bonus damage as well.

This review may be for the "Red Tape" but it's important to consider what rolls you want on it in when compared to "Live Fire." Both of these Episode: Revenant weapons are stasis scout rifles albeit in different though comparable archetypes. Notably the weapons have very little overlap in terms of trait selection with these weapons only sharing one pairing in common, that being the elemental synergy pairing of Rimestealer with Headstone. However, whereas "Red Tape" has several other solid perk choices to choose from aside from those two that is not the case for the "Live Fire," which has such a weak trait pool that I would argue there are only two rolls on that weapon worth considering with the better of the two being Rimstealer with Headstone.

So assuming that RNG is cooperative you'd optimally want to get a roll on "Live Fire" featuring Rimestealer and Headstone to cover that particular elemental synergy pairing. Then considering that you've now covered that particular paring in your arsenal, you can then use "Red Tape" and it's far more versatile perk as a jack of all trades weapon. Given that context traits like Attrition Orbs or Demolitionist in the third column and fourth column options including explosive payload, focused fury, or one for all become appealing options. If you're interested in using this weapon in the crucible your best option is probably Lone Wolf with Explosive Payload.

For those that care the most vertical recoil patterns for this weapon are found on 71 and 81 recoil direction, with their left leaning balancing out the weapons tendency to veer off to the right.

brother i just see you hating on every gun. First Slayer's Fang then here we are with Red Tape. If you really don't enjoy the gunplay then maybe don't play? I'll agree its not the BEST but people like you really just find things to hate.

The firing sounds and feels like Touch of Malice. Which is weird since it's a 200rpm while ToM is 260.
