TIP: New Season & Popularity Ranks
It's a new season! Popularity ranks can change rapidly at the start of a new season, especially on new weapons.
Be careful jumping to conclusions for a week or so as the meta starts to shake out.
TIP: Popularity Ranks
The letters F thru S below are Popularity Ranks. They measure how popular your roll is versus the most popular roll for this weapon among the global community. The most popular roll is ranked S+. The least popular is ranked F-. Popular doesn't necessarily mean "good"; unpopular doesn't necessarily mean "bad". Use what you enjoy!

PvE:
Yasmin is a Kinetic Adaptive sniper, rolling Vorpal, Focused Fury, and Firing Line in the 4th column, of which, we'll generally want Firing Line for PvE purposes (unless you're solo , then target Focused or Vorpal). As a Kinetic sniper, it deals 10% more damage to Unshielded Targets (which include most bosses and majors) than Energy Snipers which gives it a huge damage advantage - every 10th shot you fire, you get one extra bullet's worth of damage. As an Adaptive Frame, it sits between the Rapid Fire and the Aggressive Frames in both DPS and Total Damage Output (with Rapid Fire's having higher DPS and lower Total DMG, Aggressive with lower DPS but higher Total DMG). Its competition for damage is any other sniper that can roll with Firing Line. In the Kinetic slot, this is going to be Thoughtless, Silicon Neuroma, and Shepherd's Watch, which we won't include because Sheperd's doesn't have a useful 3rd column perk. Also of note in competition is Praedyth's Revenge, which, though it cannot roll Firing Line, can roll Frenzy for 15% damage, and High Impact Reserves (variable damage), both of which pair with Rewind Rounds. Of these Kinetic snipers, only Silicon Neuroma and Praedyth's can get ammo generation in the 3rd column, with Triple Tap and Rewind Rounds, though they are on the ends of the DPS to Total Damage spectrum as an Aggressive and Rapid Fire Frame.
At first blush, Defiance of Yasmin looks like a weak Thoughtless because it cannot roll ammo generation and suffers from having to reload during a DPS phase. Runneth Over solves that problem. When your reload animation finishes (not starts!), you overflow the magazine based on the number of allies within 15m (tested with Ensemble, Runneth Over pairs perfectly for the activation range). With Ext Mag + Backup Mag and Runneth Over x5, Yasmin overflows to 11 shots in the magazine (from a base of 7), still shy of Thoughtless' 16-17 w/ Enh Overflow, but it doesn't require you to run over a brick to overflow the magazine - just hang out near allies. In the 3rd column, instead of being limited by *only* Enhanced Overflow, you can choose your utility to pair with Firing Line. Ensemble works like a charm with Runneth Over, giving increased Handling and Reload near allies, Lead from Gold keeps you topped up, and Osmosis rotates the element of Yasmin to pair with Font of Might for damage amplification (though you lose 10% dmg taking it off Kinetic), as it will always change element to match your subclass. I'm a huge fan of my Shoot to Loot + Firing Line, with Ext. Mag and Backup - any time I see an ammo brick drop anywhere on the map, I can immediately top up my Heavy and Special without risking myself (this was particularly useful against the Challenge of Warpriest: during the Oculus, I'd step out in the shadow of the monolith and Shoot to Loot all the ammo on the field, while my fireteam huddle around a Healing Well like Neolithic Cavemen around a bonfire.
Defiance of Yasmin gives you choices in PvE. Yes, we all know that Firing Line will be your damage buff, but how do you want to augment that? Better reload and handling during Damage Phases? Easier reloading (or lack thereof with Shoot to Loot) during down time? Reduced Flinch with No Distractions? Yasmin let's you express your playstyle with your choices. Oh, and it has niche rolls like Firefly + Demo (yes the explosions give Grenade Energy).
Stats:
Yasmin has 40 zoom, tied with Beloved, Supremacy and others, while only Father's Sins and Revoker sit only lower at 35. It ties Eye of Sol at 68 Aim Assist, though a number of Rapid Fire Frames, including Praedyth's beat it out. It's roughly even in Stability and Handling with Eye of Sol and Beloved, though it has higher base reload to pair with Runneth Over and higher base Range as well. The crazy part is that all of those stats will be buffed on the Harrowed Version, while targeted crafting compensates for your desired stat package! Where Yasmin truly excels, however, is in Gun Feel - it has a low profile when on the hip, scoping in feels snappy even without Snapshot, and the circle reticle, reminiscent of Revoker, sits in a hugely open scope - nothing on your screen is obstructed while ADS. Though the bounce intensity is high with a low base recoil direction, the openness of the Scope allows for exceptionally easy recalibration and re-targeting after shots. It feels excellent.
PvP:
You will be sniped by this monster, and absolutely be sniped by its Harrowed and Crafted versions. It can roll all the staple combos, Snapshot Opening, Snapshot Moving Target, No Distractions Opening, No Distractions Moving Target, No Distractions Vorpal - if you Snipe in PvP, you already know this gun will be present in all levels of play. Easy 5 stars.
Thoughtless and Yasmine both are equally great for all content!
The only difference I'd say Yasmine has over Thoughtless is in PvE Fireteam content (GMs or Raids, maybe dungeons), as it can pair Ensemble/Firing Line/Runneth over, making it a "Co-op sniper" in the best case scenario.
Truth told, Both are awesome and shouldn't be harshly compared, though the community will have their own respective opinions. ^^
otherwise excellent breakdown!
