Not sure why everyone is giving this low pve scores, it has some amazing rolls. Threat Detector and Auto-Loading in the first column are great. Incandescent and 1-2 Punch are great in the 2nd column. Any combination of them will be great in pve, I'm personally looking for ALH and 1-2 Punch as a kinda replacement for python(rip python he a real one).

Not much of a pvp player and this definitely isn't what it used to be but there is still some potential.

It all comes down to the archetype. Rapid-fire and Lightweight frames are simply better suited to PvE than Aggressive frames are. For one, they have incredibly low handling across the board, which is a very important stat when it comes to perks like Trench, Swash, and 1-2, since it basically functions as a scalar on the animation speed for swapping between shooting and melee.

Also, Enhanced Incandescent is vastly superior to the regular version, so if you want that on a shotgun, just craft Without Remorse instead.

Trench barrel plus a rapid fire is also very good. I just personally prefer having the slower, harder hitting shotguns. It is up to the person though, either way is valid and great.

People complaining, but Smallbore / Assault Mag / ALH / Incandescent ends up with better stats than my "god roll" from Forsaken that I crutched on all through Years 2 and 3 in the Crucible. The downside is no more Rampage, the upside is that now my kills have a chance to make targets explode.

I don't see the problem.

I dunno about the rest of these reviews, but I think an Aggressive Frame shotgun with Auto-Loading + 1-2 Punch is an awesome roll, even though there are other shotguns of the same archetype like the Found Verdict and the Ragnhild that can roll with the same combo and probably do better. Some other nice perks include Threat Detector, Lead From Gold, and Incandescent.

I can understand why PvP people are not happy with the rolls though. Someone made a good point that if this thing had the new Slickdraw perk paired together with Slideways, it would still probably be as good as it was before.
But, alas. Good thing there's other fish in the sea, huh?

Don't sleep on it. I got a Rifled, Tac Mag, Snapshot, Fragile Focus with a range MW and caught a lot of people by surprise in Trials this weekend. It's a great ambush shotty and when FF range (69...no, but really) kicks in it is very noticeable. Play smart and this thing will reward you. I added Icarus grip for my blink wizard.

People are getting way too upset that it's not the same mindbenders that it used to be. Honestly, this version isn't bad, it's not bad in the slightest. There are great options for both game modes, almost every perk on this gun is really good. You have great combos like pugalist + 1 2 punch (which is my roll, it slaps pretty hard) or swash, there's ALH too, snapshot and fragile focus would be great for PvP. Open your minds a bit, just cuz it doesn't have quickdraw anymore doesn't mean the gun is shit.

This thing may have gotten its perks gutted, but atleast it wasnt AS gutted as comedian was.
its still usable in PVP and has plenty of usage for PVE too.
though, in pvp i wouldnt use it over timelost FV unless you like the way MB looks

Just played with this thing tonight and definitely reconsidering how good this thing can really be. Have a decent roll with rifled/accurized/TD/Swash and although its slow with absolutely no handling, with swash it hits like a truck from ranges that make it seem like it’s the shotty meta all over again. Once the adept version comes out I think the right roll will be nasty. Maybe not top tier but definitely will perform and be the easiest adept aggressive frame to get in the game with one being behind a slowly dying raid and the other being behind a flawless win (if it ever comes back).

It's back from the DCV, but it got it's balls chopped off. Mind you, it's perfectly serviceable for casual pvp and low-mid level PvE, but it doesn't have anything to make it stand out in either. In PvP, this thing is just bad, no question. It simply cannot compete in the current day when other shotguns do what it does better and with much less effort. Unfortunately, Bungie's attempt to make this a PvE leaning weapon fell flat on it's back as well. It already has the handicap of being the worst PvE archetype in a weapon class that is barely viable compared to slug shotguns. Alongside that, the lack of trench barrel doesn't do this thing any favors. Incandescent and pugilist completely carry this weapon and save it from being on the same tier as the Comedian. At least it looks absolutely beautiful and has a cool glow when firing.

wasnt playing the game when this originally dropped but the comments trashing it calling it " neutered ", are odd ones stuck living in the past i feel because the gun feels great ! I recorded myself doing a lost sector a while back when i was still relatively new and it performed extremely well. keep in mind here the rolls i have arent even B tiers but C ones and i think i had the pvp centered one equipped by accident but i still succeeded. Like i said above i think people stuck on the past when the gun was super op (from my understanding) arent even giving the new edition a fair shake and thats not cool in my book.

I will edit this with a PVP score after i test it out in some games.

Honestly I feel like mindbenders isn't as bad as people are saying. I feel like people are downplaying a roll like threat and well rounded. If you throw grenades a lot and hit people with your charged melee you get 2 stacks of well rounded 20 range 20 stability 20 handling which is 5 less range than os and you won't have the tighten spread of os but its like slideshot giving you 20 range and also sliding in general on pellet shotguns was nerfed.

Great in PVE, incandescent offers a nice alternative to without remorse. Good stats and good perks in both columns. In PVP, it's godawful. Slideways/incandescent is probably the best roll attainable personally, and it falls short of almost every other shotgun currently out there.

For me this gun just feels better than fv and I know everyone is talking about opening shot being necessary but just bc it is missing one perk doesn't mean it's automatically trash (except for comedian f that gun lol). But yea I prefer mindbenders over found verdict fight me and also JESUS THE PVE ROLES ARE GOD TEIR. I will change my review btw once I get the adept one and use it properly on my comp grind

I used to main Last Man Standing with Threat Detector/One-Two Punch back in Joker's Wild, and I think people are greatly underselling the usefulness of Threat Detector with Handling. It doesn't give any Handling stat, it applies a SCALAR to it, meaning you're literally handling the gun even faster than the Handling stat would allow just because you're standing next to at least one enemy - which, if you're One-Two Punching something, *you're close to an enemy.* Pugilist is also neat for Handling and melee energy back on kills, and people really like Incandescent even if I'm not too into it personally.

they have done mindbenders dirty, but threat detector, snapshot, and steady hands are all top teir. Despite how out of my way I have to go to get the handling good on this thing I can't take it off. Theres just something about the gun and the way it glows after a kill thats magnetic and its one of my favorite shotguns. gunmodel way sleeker then found verdict or any of the other best shotuguns

as a pve weapon, there are better choices, but it can still put in work. incandescent and 1-2 punch are obvious choices for pve in 4th column, and for a good reason. in the 3rd column, you will be hard pressed to find a perk that isn't good for pve. correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think that incandescent can count towards melee regeneration with pugilist, something to take note of. as far as pvp goes, while you can do ok with this shotgun, why would you try when you could use something far better, such as the seven seraph cqc, found verdict, retold tale, basically almost anything in the same slot? credit where it's due, threat detector + fragile focus, well rounded, or steady hands can do some damage, but overall this shotgun is a shadow of it's former self inside the crucible. 8/10 pve, 3.5/10 pvp

We already have enough pve shotguns. Bungie needs to give nightfall weapons some specials that only them have. Adept mods or plus 2 on all stats isnt enough to make them look hyper special

Has some serious abilities in the PvE department, with Pugilist, ALH, LFG, or Threat Detector, and then One-Two Punch, Incandescent, and Swashbuckler. Even if this doesn't have the best PvP perks anymore, it still has some decent picks like Slideways and Snapshot, and then Steady Hands. The people giving this low scores are just salty and wearing rose-tinted glasses, cause this SG is definetly not a one star in either main mode.
