TIP: API Perk Swap
The Bungie API now allows us to swap weapon perks for you*. Click individual perks below to swap them in-game. Click "Equip Popular Perks" to pick the perks that result in the highest popularity rank (if you're not already using them).* You must be in orbit, a social space, or logged off.
PvP: You can try either Snapshot and OS, or LW and CT.
Great for anti-vehicle/construct use.
Now we just need a void or strand LMG with this roll, preferably Void so you can roll up with double void tank buster weapons. I will note, withering gaze is a good sidegrade for Vorpal and just plain good for any enemy.
PvP: Slickdraw + Opening Shot. I now suck with snipers in Crucible, which is kind of sad since "Mission Control" triumph is the only thing holding me back from FINALLY getting Deadeye (I "slept on" that title for years, leaving it near completion and taking it for granted). On the odd times I don't suck, I habitually swap weapons or reload, ugh. lol. Anyway, that's all to say that in a few matches I was able to clean up pretty well with that perk combo on this sniper rifle. I can see why, a month ago, someone on "social media" happily extolled their two-year-old or more roll of a different rare sniper with the same perk combo (they had like 2000+ kills with it, no lie). The origin trait is kind of a waste in pvp -- ammo is so precious it doesn't make sense to shoot constructs and vehicles with it (and in Sparrow Control, where one would, could or even should shoot a target's sparrow, it's just awkward to track a fast-moving target with a zoomed-in sniper).
Update on 19th Dec 2024:
Additionally for pvp, I now have two Snapshot + Opening Shot rolls, a Snap + Closing Time, and a No Distractions + Closing Time roll (ND is useful for getting the Deadeye triumph; drastically reduces but does not eliminate flinch). I like 'em all. Sigh. I maintain a 4/5 rating bc it's still sniping in the current "sandbox," which is like trying to run through knee-high water when being shot at.
