Absolutely insane weapon with the range of a scout rifle when zoomed in and the dps of a shotgun when hipfired. Even with the reserve nerfs coming this thing will still slap. Feels like it's only real downside is its reload speed which can be easily mitigated through alloy casing, loader mods, and onslaught.

For catalysts, onslaught. It gives reload speed along with RoF increase per kill, and turns the ADS version of the gun into a real workhorse even from very long ranges.

To make this thing work optimally with onslaught I highly recommend the alloy casing mag and the following mods:
A special finisher and ammo finder, a charged up and stacks on stacks, a single void loader, and then however many reserve, scavenger and siphon mods that you like. Alloy casing and a single loader mod makes this reload incredibly quickly when empty, which will happen A LOT thanks to onslaught and the hipfire mode.

My build is with prismatic hunter, spirit of the gyrfalcon/foetracer. FT frees up leg mod spots for scavs, SoS, and ability/health regen mods while also giving Choir even more damage on matching ability hits. I use facet of bravery, dominance, and balance to keep my volatile, weaken, and FT buff uptime high. Pair it with The Call that has demolitionist and either a strand or void heavy. Magnetic grenade and either snare bomb or threaded spike depending on what heavy/situation.

This thing is lots of fun. Get it.

Void AA12 fused with a Scout rifle. This is probably my favorite exotic ever, at least in the top 3.

Oh boy, what to say about this doozy of a rifle? I say that with affection, since this thing outright SLAPS. Rips through ads, rips through chunkier targets, rips through Champs... even dungeon and raid bosses become like wet paper! Even in its default state, this Choir definitely sings with more than one voice! My main concern is what's gonna happen after this... episode (still not used to that). With this thing putting out insane damage that's competitive with heavy weapons (sound familiar?), all while maintaining the ammo economy of a special weapon, there's no way this thing isn't going to catch a nerf.

Now, to tell you why this thing is great... it does respectable damage in ADS, firing one bullet (energy bolt? idk, it's the same weapon Wyverns use) at a time. Since Overload Auto Rifle was added to the artifact with Act 3, you can expect that this'll be recommended for GMs through the end of the season, since it only really takes a couple shots to stun an Overload champ, and then you can hipfire to shred them. Speaking of, hipfire is where this gun really shines. The shots do gain travel time at longer distances, and you do fire 5 at once, but the damage output is like a Fusion Rifle... if it was full auto. Bet a lot of old D1 vets will recognize the correlation instantly upon getting their hands on this weapon. (Hint: It's like you have Infinity... in your Pocket. *wink wink*)

The only real downside to this weapon is that the hipfire shots have a fairly short damage falloff, so you'll have to get relatively close to a target to deal the full damage. Unfortunately, that makes using it against bosses that are usually further away (Oryx and the Witness come to mind right now) less practical. At least we have Whisper for those... There is also the relatively low reload speed, but that's easily remedied with a Void loader in your gauntlets, or a Hunter's Marksman's Dodge... or heck, even Icarus Dash on a Rain of Fire Warlock (now imagine if Choir of One was actually a Fusion Rifle...).

All in all, this is a relatively strong weapon, dependable in a lot of situations, functioning as a veritable Jack of All Trades when it comes to PvE, and surprisingly few downsides! I'd mention the catalysts, but as of writing this, only Destabilizing Rounds is available, and even if they all were, they don't do much to improve the gun's performance... at least for raw damage, since all three perks want you to get kills to take full advantage of them, and it feels like it was made for single target damage.

10/10 gun, highly recommend you give it a try in at least one GM, or raid, or dungeon. You'll end up joining the Choir, too! I guarantee it!

in its week one state, this thing is already insane and feels like a rocket sidearm in how it uses it special ammo (as in it's basically a primary). subsistence refit is nice, but i'm very interested to see how it plays with the onslaught catalyst! destabilizing rounds is good in theory, but using void or prismatic subclasses to get volatile rounds lets you use one of the other catalysts. haven't used it in crucible but i have a sneaking suspicion it may be pretty good as you can shoot the full wyvern blast WITH ONLY 1 AMMO LEFT

also shooting a wyvern blast is so so satisfying. just like with ex diris/mothkeeper's: lets see how YOU like it!

(edit: just realized i haven't even been using the new artifact mods yet. may come back and update this review)

I think Destabilizing Rounds Refit might be pretty good with Controlled Demolition on Void Titan. That'll turn the volatile viral (as in volatile explosions apply volatile) and cause the explosions to heal you and nearby allies.

On any class without Controlled Demolition I suspect Subsistence is going to be the better catalyst.

Nope, destab rounds with the buff is king. On a prismatic hunter just shredding things with that and NOT needing to waste a facet? Yes please.

tl;dr good range versatility, fantastic add clear, really good damage, CHUNKS through ammo

ooo yeah, OOOO yeah. Bungo cooked with this.
There's so much this gun has going on, it's like a swiss army knife but each knife has a smaller gun attached to it, just in case.
High precision long range damage for ADS
Pairs REALLY well with volatile rounds
The godamn wham-bam-slam wyvern hipfire blast? oooooo it's tasty
Vex milk puddles for even MORE add clear on top of that too.
oh and it dropped with all the new autorifle seasonal artifact perks which can basically just give you subsistence without subsistence.
And then you get the catalyst, for more subsistence for your subsistence (but i feel like destabilizing rounds may go harder)

The ONLY drawback I've felt while using this gun is oh man the ammo cost. 5 shots consumed when you hip-fire shotgun blast. It's heavy but so is the damage, so you get what you pay for in terms of secondary ammo.

what if you took a automatic shotgun and a rifle and fuse them into one gun?

this beautiful thing, not only does it shred wyverns and their warcrimes, it's such a satisfying weapon to use in general, especially if you manage to get the catalyst that gives it subsistence and use war rig to keep gunning things down in it's shotgun mode.

This is literally the best auto in the game, Period. Melts champs like butter in your old microwave set to “nuke”. This thing is also a menace in pvp, it’s borderline unfair because of 3-4 tap abilities (depending on resilience) and can 1 tap up to 9 meters while hip firing, which is nuts! This will definitely make you heart giggle with glee when using it against those stupid bully wyverns in gm’s and some lost sectors. Combine this with the new artifact perks and you are GOLDEN.
Tl;dr: it’s a pocket nuke that says control-alt-delete to champs and bosses alike. What’s more to say?

TL;DR nerfs incoming.

In Detail: Bungie has confirmed the following.
1) Choir of One has too much ammo.
2) Choir of One does too much damage with Divinity.

The latter could be a bug, could be. But the reserve nerf will be painful as shotgun mode eats a lot of ammo.
Still ADS mode will remain an excellent scout rifle for PVE

PvP is 3 crit 1 body (71 for head, 39 body), good range but cost too much for a special ammo weapon imo.
Shotgun mode still 1 taps out to 10 meters. Just that the projectile speed and pattern really makes it difficult to be consistent unless point blank.

Definitely takes a while to get Choir of One as well as its catalysts but it is worth it.

Choir of One, being the first special auto rifle, is a novel, fun, and ridiculously strong exotic. It rivals the versatility of exotics like Outbreak Perfected due to the deep ammo reserves, high per-shot damage and the ADS/hipfire mechanic. It is so versatile you can use it to effectively clear every enemy type from red bars to raid bosses. It boasts some of the best ammo efficiency and huge ammo reserves for a special, similar to the newly added Rocket-Assisted sidearm frames, while still retaining a respectable DPS.

I run the Choir of One on my Voidlock as the high per-shot damage is especially useful for maintaining devour stacks (and proccing devour heal in emergencies). Nezerac's Sin's perk (Abyssal Extractors) can proc with Choir of One kills which makes for a great synergy.

Pros:
+++Great per-shot damage, especially with the hipfire
+Thus, great burst damage in short damage phases, emergency weapon kill procs or just clearing orange/yellow bars
+++Reliable ammo efficiency and deep ammo reserves (With ADSing)
+++Very versatile
++Good DPS for a special
++Good range when ADS
++Solid selection of catalysts
+Void helps with certain exotic armour interactions
+Benefits from current seasonal artifacts (Episode: Echoes)

Cons:
---Hipfire suffers from severe damage dropoff
--Ammo efficiency dramatically worsens when hipfiring and spray & praying
-Small mag size & lengthy reload
-ADS magnification is a bit too strong for me making it uncomfortable to be up close with adds
-Hipfire, unlike the ADS, is a slow moving projectile making it hard to aim effectively at range

Dang. This scout rifle is good. I mean auto rifle.
Choir of One is one of the best workhorse exotics in Destiny 2 lately. It is by no means flashy, in fact the perks are quite boring, the main exotic perk being: "This weapon shoots different," but that's okay. Because this thing is crazy. It deletes champions and major enemies, and it's secondary fire function can be used as a get out of jail free card if there's some enemies up in your face. I haven't tested it thoroughly in PvP, but the main sentiment running around about it is: 'meh.' This gun is easily the best thing to come out of Echoes (though that's not the highest bar in the world) and we should be thankful for a gun like this.

generally I would never write a review on here for a gun but I swear this thing is debatably the best melting weapon in the game (I'm biased) but still it feels like a gun from borderlands the way you can swap between modes at will and it works great on every class real work of art fr its not the best in pvp tho

In PVE this thing rips… through ammo. I wish they gave it extended mag to synergise better with Onslaught and Subsistence. I dont really understand how onsalught is going to work well with it other than dumping all your ammo out at a speed thats going to be hard to aim and land those hits. Its certainly a fun and versatile weapon but if you want to run double special you need to slow your play style down and watch your ammo. It can do a lot and its fun to use however its a step away from true greatness. For me, it's dookie in PVP, you might feel otherwise.

As long as you're not dumping the hip fire (should be saved for things like Champs) it has better ammo economy than Rocket Sidearms while hitting just as hard in ADS. Even when using just the hipfire (uses 5 ammo per shot) that still has you with about the same reserve total as Rocket Sidearms if I'm not mistaken. And you get a pretty good chunk of ammo when you pick up a brick.

I do however agree that I don't know how Onslaught is going to play here. Subsistence is great as it just remove the need to really reload after kills and the aoe (which it has multiple ways of doing) synergizes with it well, though maybe wasted with the current artifact mod that reloads ARs. I assume aoe kills would proc Onslaught x2/x3 but as you're mentioning I just don't see how that would be the best option for this weapon. Might be fun for solo Master Lost sectors where you're likely killing red bars and have champs/majors you need to delete quick but for GMs, Dungeons, and Raids? I'm not sure if Onslaughts the play.
