Fun little SMG that I like to use. It cant really compete with the likes of Ikelos, Calus, Funnelweb, or Submission but for the Hatchling perk itself, its a fun Strand weapon, if not one of the better ones.
I wish it had a little more kick in its damage and a bit more mag size with my rolls, but it would make the reload even worse, dont be surprised to drop a backup mag in its mod slot.
My Personal Roll: Corkscrew, High-Caliber, Envious Assassin, Hatchling with a Stab MW
My Sought after God Roll: Arrowhead or Corkscrew, Ricochet, Envious, Hatchling with either Handling, Range, or Reload MW
Now, why Envious? Pair it with a great add clear secondary such as Forbearance and watch that mag size grow baby, threadlings, and nano rockets everywhere!
So thats my take, I, unfortunately, wont give it a high PvP or a PvP rating since I have not yet used it in such a setting nor do I really plan on using it in PvP where there are still other weapons that I would use over it.

The weapon is okay, but you will only farm this while this is the only strand SMG. The reason for that is the reload that is abyssmal and the absence of third colunm perks that improve reload with exception of Keep Away, which is very niche for SMGs. The Immortal will be a better option for PvE and PvP just because it has access to better third colunm perks, like Threat Detector and Perpetual Motion.

Sadly not craftable for whatever reason, being the only strand SMG at the moment. The immortal (trials) outclasses it in every way and will be a way better option until we get a craftable strand SMG.

I'm not gonna lie and say this SMG is good, because while this is fun, it's pretty much a boneless The Immortal. You're only grabbing this if you either: Don't have an Immortal, or are waiting for The Immortal to drop.
Yes, the gun feels good, but it's missing that secret sauce that makes it a cut above. Grab it if it's your only option, but otherwise, just go get The Immortal when it's out.

It being non-craftable, being a 600rpm, and having a severely worse perk pool than immortal just kills this weapon. Like every other subclass, we will get an insane craftable strand SMG soon.

Been using this smg with Target lock and Range master work, it feel very smooth and the micro rockers does ton of damage to weaken targets.

That's what im saying. Damage increases rapidly with target lock and then the rockets hit twice for a large chunk. The down side is the magazine. I haven't put it down with this roll since I got it

Under Pressure/Hatchling & Envious Assassin/Hatchling. Really a 4.5, while it does lack reload speed it isn't a big deal breaker as there are ways around it from reload mods to fragments. That being said it was definitely tailored to be paired with the Strand, particularly Threads of Ascent. I tried it in Spire of the Watcher and with Threads of Ascent and it holds up. Us Hunters can definitely make the most out of it in all sub-classes with our natural increase reload speeds (On Your Mark, Amp, Invis, + Marksman D) with the exception being Stasis. Stasis does have fragment for instant reloads shared with Titans and Warlocks but it's melee dependent. We have 2 melee charges but if we run out you get the point. I haven't tried it for the other classes but it is Strand tailored so TOA applies. No crucible experience yet but will update when I do. Don't just shoot it, go nuts with it. Swing away George.

There is a roll to be hunted for fellow titan mains. To give you the most disgusting 600rpm hate message farmer to exist. That roll is full bore, ricochet rounds, keep away, target lock with a range masterwork. Use it with peacekeepers to make it a snappy unforgiving monster of an smg. Ignore the “it’s not immortal” that’s the point. Immortal is good, this however feels more consistent in lethality. Don’t sleep on it’, just be prepared. It’s a rough SMG to farm.

PvE review: godly on strand envious hatchling. Make Mountain Dew spider buddies everywhere.

PvE:
I really wish this was better, but it is completely overshadowed by The Immortal's superior perk pool for most people. It's worth noting that this is your ONLY strand smg option until you can grab The Immortal from trials at the time of writing.

This gun has one niche: Envious Assassin + Hatchling. Paired with a wave-frame GL, this weapon is a serious contender for your primary slot if you are specifically a strand warlock. For everyone else, it's not bad if you specifically need a strand primary, but I would otherwise look elsewhere. The biggest issue is hatchling's precision kill requirement, which isn't horrible on a precision SMG, but I think you can generally do better.

PvP:
It's okay. Keep Away + Kill Clip is passable, but there are some incredible SMG's right now. If you love precision SMG's, ironically this is probably your best option. I would avoid whipping this one out in competitive playlists.

Surprised its not rated higher, I got a fairly mediocre roll with pulse monitor and target lock, but this thing puts in pretty good work in PvE. Envious is easily the top 3rd column pick, since overflowing the mag counters the biggest weakness on the gun - mag size. Hatchling def would be a fun option here, and you can never go wrong with kill clip. Been very happy with it since it also synergizes very well with Strand, especially as a Titan who is getting very aggressive with Close range combat- I might feel different once Quicksilver's red bar damage is fixed, and I finish the Catalyst on that, but for now, this thing has been very good to me.

PvP- dead on arrival, Ikelos just out does it on all fronts

Pretty decent, best hatchling weapon so far and the origin trait is pretty good, but the perks in the 3rd column leave a lot to desire.

Pretty solid SMG that's easily farmable on the right day of terminal overload. Reload is a little slow on it's own. I have flared magwell, keep away, and strand reloader mod on my arms. Reloads as fast as I could want. Works really well with a strand build. Grapple into close range, set off a tangle explosion, mop up anything that's left

It's got good enough perks. Third column leaves a lot to be desired. I'd look at them more to synergize with whatever you get in the fourth column. My favored roll I think is heavily slept on. Under pressure with target lock. Pair this with some strand surge mods and the last half of your magazine is gonna melt mobs. I'd throw in chambered compensator/arrowhead brake and ricochet rounds. Strand loader mods are a must with these new weapons. They reload too slow by themselves. Masterwork I'd say range is your best bet. The damage drop off is steep. Especially in more challenging content where you aren't always wanting to be within melee range of stuff

While the Immortal will most likely usurp this thing once people get their hands on it, this gun still puts in work and does a lot for being the first Strand SMG in the game.

Being a precision frame, it lacks a lot of important stats that make the other archetypes shine, but makes up for it by having access to some fun perks, like Envious Assassin, Keep Away, Cascade Point, and of course, Hatchling. Keep Away notably fixes a lot of the jank this weapon has since it acts like a reverse Threat Detector and bumps up some stats to make the weapon feel smoother to use. Hatchling is the main draw to this thing right now, which is true for many of the Strand weapons, and it works really well for Strand builds, especially on warlock with the Threadling or Weaver's Trance setups.

For PVP, this thing struggles a bit, much like Forensic Nightmare, which shares Kill Clip and the same zoom stat. The shining example of precision frames, Shayura's Wrath, is so out-of-band with its stat package that it makes it seem like 600 SMGs can easily do work, when in actuality the whole archetype tends to underperform. Give it a shot if you'd like, but remember you're trying to make a decent/good weapon do great, when you could just start with a great weapon from the get-go.

All-in-all, it's a good workhorse with fun rolls. Good luck getting a decent one from Terminal Overload though, it's a long activity.

I mean, it’s strand… it’s 600 rpm… yep. Not bad but the perk pool and reload speed irk me. I’ve been using a decent AB, Ricochet, and Under pressure hatchling roll and it’s sort of fun if threadlings are your thing. nothing too crazy but definitely not the worst strand weapon

Envious Assassin can overflow the mag when stowed and considering how good wave-frame GLs are + the buffs to heavy GLs and machine guns makes the lack of reload perks on this gun pretty irrelevant.
However, I do agree that its incredibly annoying when weapons lack ANY ammo related perks.

Yeah, I agree with you. But I just meant classic reload perks specifically. I know it's subjective. But for me a 600rpm SMG needs at least some classics in the perk pool.
