Naeem's Lance is an accurate name... because your best damage option with this thing would be to stab people with it.

The Lance is our first Strand Rapid Fire Sniper, and unfortunately is probably the biggest reason why people consider the Dungeons loot pool lackluster. For PvE, Column 3 has Keep Away, Hatchling, and Reconstruction, while Column 4 has Slice, Precision Instrument, Demolitionist, High Ground and Attrition Orbs. This weapons perk pool is definitely geared more towards utility than DPS - Precision Instrument is horrendous on a Sniper, as without a magazine perk you literally cannot reach max stacks without a blisteringly fast reload, and I would genuinely consider High Ground to be a better damage perk. You just won't get anywhere near the sheer output of Supremacy and Succession, or even a number of non-Raid options. If you're looking for a DPS option, don't bother looking here.

On the other hand, this weapons perk pool suggests it would be better as a utility weapon. Options like Hatchling, Slice, Demolitionist, and Attrition Orbs suggest you would be better off leaning into those... except Snipers make for horrible utility weapons unless that utility is DPS (or Add Clear in the case of Kinetic Tremors Supremacy). Primaries and almost any other Special weapon make for better options to lean into literally every single one of these options. Both other Strand weapons from this Dungeon lean into utility better than this thing, and one of them is a Caster Sword!

Naeem has a pretty shit Lance, all told. Either lean into things like Reconstruction + Slice, or go find a different polearm to stab people with. Like a Glaive! Use Glaives more. Probably makes for a better Sniper than this...

PvP? Lol. Lmao even. Unless you plan to Slice someone while you dome them, nothing in Column 4 will help you in PvP - not unless you intend to use High Ground to 2-body people at 2 Resilience and below, I guess. In Column 3, Keep Away and Elemental Capacitor are good... but Keep Away rolls on several significantly better Sniper Rifles. For Rapid Fires alone, you have Supremacy, A Distant Pull, even friggin' Persuader has better PvP rolls than this does. And I'm not even going to touch Elemental Capacitor. There are far better options for Rapid Fire snipers, whether you own every Season and DLC or are entirely F2P!

In Summary... just... just don't bother, with this Sniper. Its sad to say for a unique new design and element+frame, but Naeem's Lance has nothing going for it. Its entirely outclassed in PvP, and the one thing it has going for it in PvE is done better by the other two Strand weapons in the Dungeon. The only reason to use it is if you really like its model + sound design or are doing a loadout cosplay. Otherwise, just literally go try any other Sniper - there's a high chance they will be better than this.

I would say the one thing going for this are its stats. When compared to other rapid fire Snipers in the last few years it gets beaten out in Handling and Reload Speed but in Range and Stability it's among the highest. It has the highest Stab and Reserve alongside Praedyths Revenge at 40 and 25 with almost the highest Range at 36 only being beat by Omniscient Eye by 1 point. It's Recoil Direction isn't the best but that can be fixed. It's Aim Assist is also among the highest at 76 with it being beat by The Supremacy at 77 and Praedyth at 78.

For me though one of the most important stats is Zoom. I personally dislike high zoom, especially on high fire rate weapons. Naeem has the 2nd lowest Zoom value at 37 with weapons like A Distant Pull or Twilights Oath being lower at 35.

With something like Reconstruction (fixing it's low reload speed) I think the Naeem's Lance can be a nice pocket weapon to either use along Slice for Sever application on high tier content, Demolitionist which is 20% grenade energy back because it's a Sniper, Precision Instrument if you want something to pair with Dragons Breath for some small burst DPS in DB shots, or even Deconstruct for the ammo efficiency (free ammo back from thin air). Hatchling even exists in the 3rd column to pair with some fun stuff in the 4th. It's a pretty good weapon that brings utility in a pretty good stat package.

tldr: It has really great stats in what should matter in a rapid-fire sniper (Stability and Range imo) while bringing a perk combination that, although doesn't replace any of the top tier picks, brings a lot of utility. Reconstruction is likely the main chase for general use and fixes one of it's main weaknesses (Reload Speed) but with Hatchling in the 3rd column, there's some interesting perk interactions that could happen with it's other 4th column perks.

IMO I would play around with some few rolls. You'd be surprised what might work for you, I definitely was.

But for PvE. PvP? I guess Keep Away + High Ground? I would probably use literally anything else though lol.

Only good thing about this weapon is Reconstruction. No good pvp perks. The origin trait is absolutely useless in most situations.

Don't bother grinding for this except for filling your collections. Supremacy is much better and does much more damage than this weapon.

Funny to come back here and see those reviews after seeing the World's First Solo Pantheon using it on Caretaker.

It's not that useless I guess, at least a very special someone seems to think this way.

It's ok these days. Bungie removed the elemental damage reduction that stasis and strand 'kinetic' weapons were dealing vs bosses, so it can somewhat compete, even more so when applying unraveling rounds. I will be referencing it's main competitor, 'The Supremacy', a lot because they are very similar and fill similar roles. Main thing is this weapon suffers from too many negatives compared to Supremacy to be individually worth grinding for for most people.

To name a few of its flaws (which Supremacy also suffers from, being rapid a rapid fire sniper); horrific recoil direction, requiring arrowhead break and counter balance mod for 99 recoil direction. Some kind of mag extension because of the counter balance mod, preferably tactical mag. Only one viable damage perk combination, being reconstruction and precision instrument. Hitting a 1/9 barrel, plus a 3/7 mag, plus two 1/6 perks : versus just crafting them on Supremacy from a very quick and easy Kali farm and the added Hawthorne quests, is quite the grind. It's origin trait is basically useless only working in very specific content, unlike Supremacy that only requires a grenade being thrown that also gives extra stability and reload. It also cannot benefit from the new mods that require a crafted or enhanced weapon. Bungie really should make this weapon be able to be enhanced IMO.

That all being said, it has a few things going for it. Unraveling rounds through subclass stuff. A whole 2 extra range over supremacy. 7 stability over Supremacy (before supremacy's origin trait is activated). 3 less zoom than Supremacy (personally do not like zoom on rapid fire snipers). Last and definitely not least, if you're doing content that doesn't allow you to keep shooting to proc rewind rounds on Supremacy, reconstruction on Naeems can fill a niche gap as proven in the solo caretaker pantheon runs.

Overall: The Supremacy is more diverse, has better damage, and is easier to get for most players. That doesn't mean this is complete trash though (definitely not 2.8 stars), and I'll be keeping my god roll that I luckily hit while farming for Buried Bloodline.

Reconstruction + Deconstruct only really works now because it was bugged before. A lot of Deconstruct weapons have become viable because of their ability to return 1 round for sustained damage so long as you hit most of you base mag size shots. The problem is that infinite ammo is good for sustained damage but not frontloaded burst damage. This thing is a general use monster, but won't be getting any accolades in the highest tier content, especially since Strand kinetic slot weapons do less baseline precision damage in comparison to standard Kinetic weapons like Supremacy or Succession. The one good thing I can say about the gun is that it's good for the weirdos who wanna run triple sniper builds or double special ammo because the ammo generation perk combinations like Discord + Deconstruct make it like a mini-Icebreaker from Destiny 1.

If you are thinking about using it for PvP... just don't. "Trust"

Wow. People just HATE ammo efficiency on a weapon. Sure PvP its just normal sniper. I got one with small bore, extended mag, Reconstruction and Deconstruct. And this thing generates it's own ammo. For DPS this sniper is great

Naeem's Lance wasn't even remotely viable before the recent Deconstruct buff/fix. Now that you aren't locked out from generating ammo from thin air constantly, it can have a little boost in playability. This gun was like shooting yourself in the foot because it did less precision damage than everything else in the slot like Succession or Supremacy because Strand weapons have less precision damage because they can capitalize on Unraveling Rounds and Thread of Generation. It's definitely a unique playstyle weapon now, but you are gonna need an 11/10 Charisma stat to make other people ever want to use this any meaningful format.

I don't even know to whom this weapon is supposed to be appealing. You can get reconstruction, but your only semi-viable damage perk to complement it is precision instrument. There aren't any good pvp perks (except maybe elemental capacitor) and the origin trait is laughable for most situations. This seems to be a recurring theme with the weapons from Warlord's Ruin, save for the sidearm. Just use supremacy. It has much better perks and doesn't suffer from the damage loss of being a non-kinetic weapon.

It's got Reconstruction I guess... MAYBE slice on a sniper can have niche uses against a champion or boss in higher end content.

Just use supremacy in this slot

I have a dumb build I call the sniper monkey build, it involves using 2 discord snipers, that you swap between so you never run out of ammo, and also whisper of the worm for maximum snipers. I got a roll on this gun that has discord deconstruct. it is an interesting combo because you can gain ammo. For every kill discord will refund your shot, then for every 5 hits deconstruct will give you plus one. Deconstruct also doesn't care if you swap off the weapon, it will still have the stack as long as you swap back and hit a shot within 6 seconds. Unfortunately, this is not that useful, because it can't refill you reserves, just your mag. So if you want to try the sniper monkey build possibly use demo or a damage perk instead.

I love this gun's sound design, but it doesn't have a very meta perk pool so it is not very useful outside the sniper monkey build.

alright... i know this is probably gonna net me some down votes. This guy here can put in some work if you like lightweights for pvp. full bore + accurized + elemental capacitor + slice. On arc or prismatic with an arc super, you have max handling and its decently sticky. If you miss the headshot and land a body then they lose some damage helping your team mates a bit.

20$ on the reason for your higher damage being the fact you got more Ignitions with Dragons Breath.

22$ on the chance that this guy is simply spreading misinformation. Slice over Precision Instrument for damage *and* doesn't even bother telling us where he got these numbers? This has GOT to be bait, guys. Let's go fishing.

$21 that its DB ignitions. There is no shot that slice is out-damaging a supremacy unless your friend is straight up not shooting the sniper. Sever just doesnt work like that. Your damage is being inflated by other factors or it is straight up dragon's breath lmao
