// CRYPTARCHY ARCHIVE GAMMA-2-7D // ANNOTATED // CLASSIFIED

IR: And every time I look up at that portal, this gnawing doubt in my mind grows bigger.

MK: Doubt is the shadow cast by wisdom. It is only by questioning that we uncover profound truths. What troubles you?

IR: I've spent centuries studying the Light. Mastering it. I thought I knew… something. Enough. But watching the Witness carve through the side of the Traveler made me feel… ignorant. I realized how little I actually know.

MK: The secrecy of the Great Machine has troubled many Eliksni. Eido has these same fears.

IR: But not you?

MK: I am reminded of the sea hunting ritual many Guardians enjoy.

IR: Mmmm. Fishing.

MK: The Guardians throw their hunting-lure into the sea in faith that many creatures live there, though they cannot see beneath its surface. And standing silently on shore, they might feel… helpless. For they cannot affect the sea. It is too vast, and too powerful.

IR: I knew I disliked fishing for a reason.

MK: In the face of such power, we must act with patience and humility. A fish hunter should not dwell on the invisible depths of the sea. This is only a distraction. Instead, they must focus on the fish hunting itself: the feel of the line and the ebb of the tides.

IR: And that works?

MK: I am happy to stand on the shore, appreciating the beauty and power of the sea without understanding it. Without controlling it. I have faith that, in time, the sea will reward my reverence with its abundance.

IR: …The sea provides?

MK: It does, Ikorakel. It does.

The first Kinetic slot Legendary Trace rifle, Appetence is certainly Appetizing.

For PvE, Overflow, Demolitionist, Clown Cartridge, and Enlightened Action can pair with Killing Tally, Headstone, Attrition Orbs, One for All and Wellspring. Your best options here are Overflow + Killing Tally (for an excellent add clear weapon with a constant 30% damage buff as long as you can keep picking up special or heavy), or Demolitionist + Headstone (if you're more into subclass synergy than mulching adds). Clown Cartridge quite literally cannot surpass Overflow, so its not a worthwhile pick, and buffing reload isn't too much of an issue with Trace Rifles. Demo + Headstone also suffers from competing with Agers Scepter as a synergistic stasis trace. Its up to you, but Overflow + Killing Tally is far and away the likely best option, with Demolitionist + Headstone in second.

Trace Rifles? In my PvP? ...eh. Barely anything to write home about. Theres Slideways and Hip Fire Grip... and Deconstruct and High Ground... honestly, if you want to use a Stasis Trace in PvP, just use Agers. Or use a better Trace Rifle period.

Overall, a very welcome addition to the Trace Rifle family. And it looks good, too.

This gun is more cracked than people realize. The ability to use slideways with this gun is huge with killing tally. Ran a dungeon to test it and I never ever needed to reload the gun and constantly had killing tally x3. This is also gave me a constant boost to stability and handling from using slideways. Also pvp killing tally slideways is also very nice. Never reload, high flinch resistance because of stability, tac on radiant, and you're just mowing through people.

A Cenotaph user's best friend, ESPECIALLY if you're on a Light subclass as this allows you to match your primary with your element. I'm happy I can run a solar primary on my solarlock here.
The rage seems to be Overflow + Killing Tally, which makes sense on not Cenotaphs, but if you're rocking those, hear me out: Demolitionist + Killing Tally. Your mag is already getting passively reloaded anyways, so might as well spec into something that helps your ability regen? On top of that, Demo ALSO circumvents the reload, letting you keep your KT x3 alive. The origin trait, Dragon's Vengeance, ALSO circumvents the reload if you or an ally are hurt! Plenty of ways to avoid resetting your Killing Tally stacks as is. That said, if you're not on Cenotaph, Overflow is the play then.

...Oh right, PvP. Traces rip in the Crucible, but this isn't the one you're looking for. Go get Incisor for that. But if you must avoid Trials like the plague, then... I dunno, Hip-Fire Grip + whatever you like in C4? Kinda meh for PvP.

A kinetic option to Hollow Denial, also looking slick. What more do you want (other than a shoot to loot trace). Overflow + killing tally is the way to go for most content.

For a stasis lock it's hard to beat Ager's Scepter, so I wouldn't really go for a demo + headstone roll.

Don’t know if you know this already but the trace rifle “path of least resistance” can roll shoot to loot and voltshot, and it’s craft able although you’ll need deep sight harmonisers

Niche but really fun! Amazing with my Fighting Lion Gyrfalcon Hunter w Slideways/Killing Tally. Excited to try Demo/Headstone when I obtain it

This thing absolutely slaps, it feels like a legendary Agers-lite with the double option of being ad clear or DPS output when Killing Tally 3x is reached. Headstone is good if you really need the extra melee energy and are playing a stasis build, but I feel like Killing Tally takes this trace to another level and should be prioritized unless your build absolutely requires shards.

Mag refresh is crucial for Killing Tally, and my go to is enhanced Demolitionist which perfectly fits the bill with double grenade or grenade refresh builds. Slideshot is fun but can struggle in tight situations where you need to keep shooting. Overflow is always good, but can also become an issue if you struggle with brick management or aren't able to reach any bricks.

The best all rounder trace rifle in the game currently IMO.

Enables a lot of builds, especially with enhanced demolitionist on the crafted version. I used overflow/killing tally for a long time, but I have since realized the fruitlessness of such a gun. Combining this things grenade generation abilities with Strand hunter unlocks a new form of gameplay. With Mothkeeper's Wraps and the strand aspect that gives an extra grenade, you get three grenades. The strand aspect that reloads guns on grenade throw combined with this thing's demolitionist allows for killing tally to persist between your grenade reloads. With optimal killing tally procs (3 rank and file) you can have the 3x killing tally buff for the last 450 rounds. I've gone multiple waves in Onslaught without switching weapons, it's an absolute death beam.

If you aren't a Strand hunter slideways allows for the same level of usage on killing tally without the ability regeneration, and overflow's 208 mag size is really fun in bursts if you like primarily using primary weapons. I also think this gun being in the kinetic slot really benefits it,

This same roll/build works in PVP as well. Stockpiling a good bit of trace and moth grenades allows for 24/7 over shield with auto-reloads. And people can diss trace rifles all they want, but if you don't have a sniper the trace is going to beat your TTK, especially in modes like control. With an over shield and one stack of killing tally, you are going to notice a significant power boost as a hunter. It falls off in Trials level content, hence my four star rating, but it's definitely fun enough to shred in casual modes.

best kinetic Trace hands down, wipes all non-boss enemies in PvE at ease, it's surprisingly decent in crucible as well it's just the ammo economy isn't very good

This is a really spicy gun.
(1st column) Demo, Overflow, and Loose change are all great picks for just about every build.
(2nd column) Killing Tally and headstone are both great picks.
Mix and match how you like, you can't really lose here.
