Eye of Sol

"The sun took my sight; thus, the sun became my eyes." —Parables of the Allspring

It was Crimiq-5's honor to hold the flank. Sun at his back, there was no better position to provide overwatch in the Burning Shrine. He was the watchtower, and none would escape his vigil. Curt radio chatter signaled his fireteam's advance as he called out enemy maneuvers. Crimiq-5 watched tense bursts of movement and exchanges of fire as his team jockeyed for position.

Sola had ripped through their previous opponents with off-putting ferocity, and Crimiq was ready for this to be their last match of the day. He looked over her through his scope. Sola's silhouette marinated in an eerie shimmer that distorted the air as she moved. He stilled his body and sent a shot over her head to force an opponent back into cover.

"Aiming a little close." Sola sent a glare over her shoulder into the sun.

Crimiq-5 moved his scope off her. "Duck."

His earpiece crackled. Katake's voice drilled into his head. "THUNDERCRASH… Help!"

Katake's voice screeched out of existence as the lightning overtook him and Saint bellowed. Crimiq saw a bright flash burst from the hallway leading toward C-point.

"Be advised, I'm leaving the perch. Moving to trade for Katake."

He slid into position and snapped his trusted long rifle down lane. His sights found an unlucky Titan, lightning still crackling from their armor.

"Fate Cries Foul for you, brother." The shot hit squarely, and the Titan dropped. "Sorry I couldn't save you Katake. Next time."

snap/opening used to be the god roll. I now recommend something like moving target or no distractions/snap for pvp, and no distractions/vorpal or HIR for pve. there are still better snipers for pve, so your best bet would be to go all in for a pvp roll. very strong sniper, shame I can't hit my shots with it too often. I've been getting better though.

Revisiting this review after getting better at the game. I recently got a roll with corkscrew/accurized/moving/snap with a stab mw, and holy SHOOT
definitely going to be my go-to sniper for the foreseeable future

Revisiting this a lil bit later, do NOT sleep on firmly planted. It grants bonus accuracy, stability and handling, which can help when sniping from a longer distance, and also acts like a baby version of no distractions, as stability helps combat flinch. I have a roll with Fluted/Accurized/FP/Opening with a handling masterwork, and I swear it sometimes aims for me, even shooting through flinch a couple of times. the lack of snapshot on my roll isn't really felt, as crouching maxes out the handling stat, in addition to the other benefits. I rate it 11.5/10 for pvp, and 6.3/10 for pve. very strong sniper.

TL:DR, Firmly planted is strong, try it before dismantling

also unrelated but love how snapshot/snapshot are the most popular 3rd/4th column perks, just looks a lil goofy to me

Don't have my own yet but I just played with a friend's Snapshot/Celerity and for trials, I'm into it! I know some people probably wish we were given adapt weapons and that celerity was intrinsic, instead of its own perk, however, I now have something to chase because I personally have had a positive experience with that roll! Don't discount helpful perks!

I have tried multiple rolls of Eye of Sol over the past few seasons it has been available, the most popular and rare roll is the Snapshot and Opening Shot roll that is sadly unattainable now at time of this text review. With the release of Witch Queen and Season of the Risen we have a newly added perk that goes great alongside the staples for sniping in Destiny 2. Perpetual Motion. Pairs nicely with Snapshot and alongside either Fluted Barrel/Arrowhead Brake with a Handling Masterwork, you have yourself a Sniper that requires minimal investment into Sniper related armor mods and has a ease of use that can't be beat. My personal roll included Accurized Rounds. Can't wait to grind for and try this roll out on an Adept version.

Best PVP kinetic sniper imo. Getting the alactriy origin trait along the way is such a great reason to grab another one if you haven't already.

Unlike others, I'm willing to try a weapon WHEN I get it, not have this high-and-mighty idea that a weapon is bad before it's even available. Seems to have a cool spread of perks, interested in the new perk Celerity. 5 stars to balance out the hate.

Snapshot Opening shot will be my prefered roll, easy way to outsnipe Revoker while still holding onto Hard Light as of the current sandbox. Shortgaze is a clean sight that many D1 players will love.

This sniper in pve is just a flex and something to bring fun and variety over competition, so don't expect it to compete

Overall it looks like a promising gun, can't wait to see what rolls me and my carries will get once it's in rotation :)

Decent PvE and PvP weapon. I have Snap + Vorpal. I would prefer Snap + Opening, but it can't even be rolled anymore. Doesn't feel that sticky though.

On pve, the field prep + vorpal + appended combo makes it almost the best sniper in the game, a DPS monster paired with anarchy.
On pvp, snapshot + vorpal means its the ONLY adaptive sniper is the game that can shutdown supers while still having the benefits of snapshot.

And there's an adept version.

With igneous and palindrome putting meta hand cannons on the energy slot, this gun with the right roll is simply the best adaptive sniper in the GAME.

Once The Revoker sun sets, this will probably be the next best thing in terms of a good PVP kinetic sniper. Definitely worth farming for Snapshot and Celerity/Opening shot.

With respect to PvE, there are far better options. However, in PvP, snapshot and opening shot makes a phenomenal pairing. Within the first 12 hours of having it, I have over 100 trials kills on the weapon and it most definitely competes and is extremely forgiving. For everyone saying the zoom is too high, they haven’t even played with the gun yet because it wasn’t out when the wrote the review. It is awesome!

The combination of snapshot + vorpal weapon will make this one of the best 90 rpm snipers in the crucible. Anyone can see it. Except the one's hating on it because they won't reach it. 5 STARS to balance out the brainlets.

This sniper has great potential not all snipers have to have the same meta perks but so far as snapshot and Vorpal Weapon roll wouldn’t be bad at all for PVP on supers this is GREAT!!! For Pve, it’s not the best weapon in dps but that doesn’t mean it’s bad either if you want to flex a sniper in pve people may not have I suggest getting the Extended Mag Field Prep Vorpal Weapon roll. Great Gun can’t wait to use it and hope I get both these rolls. Wish Me Luck!!!!

First off, this weapon isn't even available yet so stop hating on it. This thing can roll snapshot celestial. This is the roll I had on my 1000-yard stare back in d1. Can't wait to get this. This will be an amazing combination for Trials. Not everything can have (insert reload perk here) and kill clip @Gr1mjaw

Insane perks for pvp. Snapshot opening shot. Vorpal weapon and box breathing to ohk supers. Celerity for clutch plays. Nothing bad whatsoever in fourth column. Third column has worse perks, but still has incredible perks. Field prep for pve, firmly planted and snapshot for pvp. Roll for pvp would probably be snapshot opening shot or vorpal weapon, and for pve would be field prep and vorpal weapon.
