Rapacious Appetite

Hunt, feed, hunt again.

To: Vanguard High Command
Incident Report Source: Scout Patrol 919
Report: Kraken Mare, Exterior Shelf Shallows—High Priority-0174
Target: J4W-S, Aberrant Houseless Servitor, Wrathborn
Threat Type: Ambusher, supported by hostile Warband(s), Engage with Extreme Caution
Noted Casualties: 8, not all incidents recorded.
Known Armaments: Servitor Eye Projector, Material Denial Shield, Displacement Thresher, Kinetic Impact.

Incident Report-309: Servitor J4W-S was spotted in the southern ridge of Kraken Mare. Dive Tactical was notified, and fireteams were pulled from the area. Upon retreat, one fireteam was ambushed by a Hive warband. J4W-S then dove from above, and crashed into the fireteam, using its body as a kinetic driver. One fireteam member was killed on impact, and their Ghost was captured. Both remaining Guardians were able to escape after a prolonged exchange of fire.

RE: Recovery teams dispatched.

Recovery Incident Report-317: Dive Tactical and accompanying fireteams prepared an ambush and engaged J4W-S outside of Delta Sector. When caught in the crossfire, J4W-S initially fled the battle under the cover of Taken forces, only to harry the fireteams with guerrilla attacks from the surrounding methane sea. Note this Wrathborn Servitor retains the use of their displacement thresher and has begun using it to pick up and drop fireteam members into the methane sea's open depths, outside the safety of the coral shelves. The thin density of the liquid makes survival without independent propulsion unlikely and recovering remains for Ghost resurrection difficult. Dive Tactical is advised not to engage J4W-S near shelf drops or cliff faces in the future.

RE: J4W-S has been confirmed to have been converted to a Wrathborn Servitor. This would explain its aggression and predatory behaviors. Following notable operator losses, Dive Tactical has erected radar buoys to detect ambushes in what have come to be known as the Servitor's hunting grounds.

Taken SMG that looks pretty cool. Has less stability than my parents marriage though. 5 stars

Smaller magazine size makes target lock activate faster.

Do with this information what you will.

Not sure why this weapon is getting the heat it is, its perfectly fine. Sure the stability is quite low and the reload speed can be a pain, but we have several solutions to that. Corkscrew and Flared Magwell provide enough stats to alleviate the otherwise low base stats (not counting any outside buffs like subclass fragments or exotics), and Well-Rounded ties in beautifully with the Origin Trait, further boosting the stats.

PvE wise I'd say Encore is best in slot for 3rd column, with Well-Rounded being a close 2nd (Well-Rounded encouraging ability use for some good stats to make the weapon feel even better, and ties well into the Origin Trait which boosts reload alongside stability and handling, with Encore boosting accuracy instead of Well-Rounded's handling boost). Best in slot for the 4th column is a toss-up between OFA and Frenzy (despite OFA's massive 30% boost just for damaging three targets, I'd prefer Frenzy, as even though you're waiting a bit to kick in with a lower damage boost, the maxed out reload and handling feels REALLY good on this gun), with Headstone as a great utility option for Stasis subclasses.

PvP wise the gun is definitely weaker, with Perpetual Motion being your only real 3rd column option and your 4th option column perks also being limited to Target Lock for standard use, and Harmony or Cascade Point for weapon swap builds (I.E. kill with a shotgun or fusion, swap for the fast TTK on the SMG).

Add all of this to the fact that it can be crafted with enhanced perks and the deal becomes a little sweeter!

All in all, weapon isn't gonna clear GMs in two seconds or overtake Immortal in the PvP meta, but it's still a good, solid weapon and gets more flak than it deserves.

This is all playstyle dependent but if the origin trait kicks in it feels significantly better than immortal to me on console. Different times and rapacious appetite turn into absolute laserbeams when you have no abilities and I think they lowered the base stats a bit to compensate. Still good enough to win a close range duel if you’ve got an ability charged too but def not as good as immortal in that situation

Normally, this gun is just Immortal lite, reliable, gets the job done, but nothing too special. When you get cocky and use all of your abilities though, this thing shows its true power.
Unsated Hunger
With that perk active, this weapon becomes a true laser. Handles like a dream, gives your enemies nightmares. PVP becomes a point-and-hold adventure. Never lose a gunfight again. You become one with the gun.
The appetite for blood is all you feel. The only thing you feel when you pull the trigger isn't even recoil anymore, it's pure satisfaction. Until you hunger once more.
Hear their footsteps, smell their fear, and feast upon their corpses.
5/5 PVP the only downside is you have to keep Unsated Hunger procced.

Only reason I'd use this in pve is if you wanted a headstone smg in pve. Out of the four of them, I'd say this one is probably the best. Forensic nightmare sucks, this has better 3rd column perks than blood feud (imo), and the chance of getting the roll you want on prolonged engagement is abysmal, and not even worth it with how easy this is to craft.

This gun is basically the son of pre-nerfed immortal, target lock and perpetual is the best roll for pvp. Enough said.

For both PvP and PvE it is a solid submachine gun. It lacks a bit of choices regarding the perks and a bit in stats regarding the range and stability, but still a overall good gun.

has stacked fourth column (ofa, frenzy, headstone) but nothing to be used in the third column for pve which makes sense it seems like bungie is allergic to giving us reload + damage perk

for pvp it gets the immortal roll but target lock isn't what it used to be

Has pretty much anything you could want on a stasis smg for pvp and pve but rangefinder, but even then perpetual motion is a pretty good substitute

This thing works nicely with my Bakris build. I tried fourth times/target lock at first, but have since switched out fourth times for perpetual and I'm having a much better time with it's consistency.

This bad boy is a digger of a weapon. Craft one with ricochet rounds, envious assassin and harmony and it goes hard as all hell when pairing it with an auto reloading secondary.

"Aggressive frame: High damage, high recoil."
It's all in the intrinsic traits to describe this jewel

Rapacious Appetite is a craftable $21 weapon, a Stase-type submachine gun that can fire up to 750 R/PM.

Its corrupted look makes it unique and very charming, and the gambit ornament is nice too.

I tested the weapon in PvE and PvP with the following perks: Arrowhead brake, Flared magwell, Perpetual motion, Target lock, with Unsated hunger as a bonus perk.

First of all, I'd like to talk about the weapon's negatifs : lots of recoil, not enough range and reloading takes a bit long. It's really a weapon that's played very close range, almost like a shotgun.
But these problems are easily solved with barrels like the extended barrel, small bore or arrowhead brake to control recoil and increase range.
Flared magwell for faster reloading or armor piercing rounds to further increase range.

Now let's talk about the trait combos,
Perpetual Motion + Target Lock is the most widely used combo, and not for nothing.
Perpetual Motion allows you to gain more control over your weapon, increasing stability, handling & reload speed by +10, all while just requiring you to keep moving, which is great with an SMG that ask you to constantly get closer to the enemy.
Target Lock increases damage the longer you shoot at an enemy, and a little tip: flared magwell activates Target Lock more quickly.
Unsated Hunger allows you to improve the weapon stats in general, which is very practical, especially since it's a bonus perk.

It's possible to replace Perpetual motion with Encore, especially if you want to use it in PvP, as in certain situations you can't move too much, and Target Lock with Frenzy to have a little machine gun available.
For players with a stasis build, you'll need well-rounded and headstone, as they go together quite well.
For Masterworks, Range, Handling or Stability are the best choices.

Summary
Positive points:

- very cool looking
-Aggressive Frame
-Craftable
-Stase SMG
-Diverse and interesting combo perks
-Can be used in PvP & PvE
-Can be very quickly perfected at level 7

Negative points:

- Not very stable
- A little hard to get used to
-bad reloading for an SMG
- doesn't shoot far
-Not the best choice for activities like Grandmasters and master raids

I love the look of these taken weapons
however sadly it suffers alot in pve especially
Being stasis means it loses out on the kinetic damage bonus
3rd perk collum hasnt got many of the amazing options other smgs have available, and the origin trait is lackluster
Still worth picking up for the looks alone however
As for pvp its 'immortal at home' lacks the stats to overtake and it cant have adept mods

Unsated Hunger has virtually 100% uptime just for being alive in current year, so long as you're not the type of person that saves your grenade for birthdays and weddings. ~30-40 seconds of boosted handling/stability/reload just for using your abilities (as you should already be doing) is better than some raid origins.

If it worked like a reverse surplus (a madumminus if you will) then I would agree but requiring ALL abilities to be empty to get a buff of any kind makes it far harder to justify. Spamming out ALL of your abilities regardless of if they're useful at the moment just to buff some mediocre weapons makes you wonder why you aren't just running better weapons.

Been running this with a Lance Cap stasis build and it's been working great. It comes with one of my favorite combos, AP Rounds + One for All, which allows you to get 2 stacks of OfA with a single shot. This, paired with Well Rounded on a stasis build gives you a ton of stats where it needs it, and a sizeable damage boost which are both very easy to proc while running the Lance Cap.

For PvP, it's just Diet Immortal.
