A decent rocket, but it feels overshadowed by the likes of hothead/cold comfort/apex predator; unless you NEED void.
What this rocket does have is the combo of field prep + bipod, which is great for exotic swapping! Ex - Using Arbalest on Simmumah, then swapping to Levi's Breath with full ammo.

Update - Bipod got a buff from -40% dmg to -25% dmg in season 22, which turned this rocket (and it's new sibling Semiotician) into workhorse weapons due to the amount of reserve ammo (12 w/ bipod, 13 w/ field prep + bipod). While I still don't recommend this for boss dps, I definitely think it's worth using in content where you can be more liberal with your heavy, such as nightfalls. With that said, outside of using it for exotic swapping, I think cluster/envious + bipod is the play.

So I finally got my hands on a field prep + bipod Braytech Osprey. Go to the moon to compare it against my non field prep roll. 12 rockets with no field prep swaps to 16 shots of Cataclysmic, a little shy of the max of 20 with no reserve mods. Field prep roll has 13 reserves, so hopefully that tips us over to 100% conversion, or at least closer. 15 shots. Somehow field prep makes it worse. Putting a reserve mod gets the non field prep roll to 13 as well, but that converts to 18 shots. I'm so confused.

If I had to guess I would say that bipod gives bonus reserves and the ratio of bonus to base reserves is what causes the advantageous conversion. Field prep must modify base reserves, causing a smaller ratio of bonus to base and thus lower conversion. But again, only guessing.

I finally got the roll I was trying for - and confirmed what I hoped was true

Envious Assassin + Bipod DOES = 8 rockets in the magazine
Yes, you read that right, EIGHT rockets in the magazine.

Bipod changes the initial mag size to 2, envious assasin adds +150% to the mag (totalling 5 rockets)
If you then shoot ONE of those rockets, you then can re-proc the Envious assasin and fill it up to 8 rockets

While its probably not gonna be the DPS meta any time soon, if you're using a build where you wanna empty your heavy quickly to use other means of DPS, this is the correct option
(ESPECIALLY if you have someone who is giving you Wolfpack rounds......eight rockets remember ;) )

The best weapon you could bring to GMs right now. Boss DPS doesn't matter as much as champion nuking, and because it has tons of rockets and stunning recovery, you cant possibly fuck up killing champions (if you ever completed a GM before).

Sadly I took a break when it came out, but my semiotician with field prep and bipod is doing WORK in the Heist Battleground: Europa GM. I wish I had braytech osprey instead for stunning recovery...

Remember guys, not everything is a raid with enrage mechanics. You don't need the best dps weapon at all times.

Really no reason to suffer this unless you are down bad for a void rocket and need a void rocket. Perks are meh in the final column and we have better rockets.

If you want Field Prep + Lasting Impression on a void rocket launcher, you are better off with crafting a Red Herring

Something of note, Cluster Bomb is affected by damage perks.
With that said, Osprey, by all means isn't the best rocket in the game by a long shot.
However, Cluster Bomb + Bipod might just be the most fun I've EVER had with a legendary rocket launcher.
Once Bipod gets buffed, keep an eye on Osprey. If the buff is anything more than minor, there's some rolls that'll be undeniably amazing for GM content.
Also in terms of PvP, Cluster Bomb + Chain Reaction is great. Cluster increases consistency, and Chain Reaction gives it even more potential to pick up bonus kills.

I wasn’t much of a fan until I got a quick launch impact casting field prep lasting impression and was doing 500k a rocket to any boss in non over-Leveld content it’s just funny to see the chunks come out!! Easy GM to farm too long but easy! I was using red herring for my void launcher but it is slightly lackluster compared to the high impact frame.

Envious + Bipod is fun due to the huge amount of rockets. While outperformed by other frames, useful for void builds. Chain Reaction works well with Gyrfalcon's on Hunter. An unique combo is the Cluster bomb + Lasting Impression, which no other rocket can roll, for now.

Not Meta, there are much better options for DPS, but Cluster Bomb/destabilizing rounds is an evil cackle of a good time. Grab a friend with gallahorn and go into something very ad dense, I went with Preservation. Have your buddy trigger wolfpagk rounds and fire a round into a horde. Suddenly the universe is filled with explosions as the cluster bomb kills turn everything volatile, then the wolpack rounds swoop in and explode all the remaining volatile enemies. Not a situation that you are going to run in to in serious content and an LMG is a much better bet if you want to ad clear with heavy. But watching one rocket clear everything you can see is worth doing at least once.

After the update to high impacts and precision frames, this is a great ad clear rocket for GMs. The roll I'm going for is auto/chain, but field prep, bipod, and a list of other good perks can roll on this weapon. Good changes bungo, thanks!

Autoloading and Frenzy is definitely the play.

Counter-argument : Go craft a Red Herring with Field Prep and Frenzy. Seriously, this is just Red Herring with 10% less damage and Autoloading available. Non-adaptive/aggressive rocket = instant dismantle, this one included.

While this is one of 2 potentially viable Void Rocket Launchers, this doesn't have all that much to offer except Adept mods capabilities (if you have the Adept version.)
You're better off using a Red Herring, but here are my recommendations if you are attempting to grab a roll.

PvE: Auto-Loading Holster/Field Prep with Frenzy/Lasting Impression (if it becomes meta.)
Grabbing a Bipod roll for loadout swapping is also a good idea.

PvP: As much Blast Radius as you can muster, and a Cluster Bomb with Chain Reaction/Destabilizing Rounds. Better options exist here.

I have a impact casing, envious assassin and lasting impression roll. It's not bad but it's not good either. If your desperate for a void rocket then this is pretty much your best bet. Keep an eye out if bipod gets buffed, envious assassin/bipod combo could have potential

Royal entry is a precision frame so any argument is kind of null unless the perks were insanely busted (they arent). Precisions do less damage because of frame damage multipler.

The issue is that it's just outclassed by other rockets that do more base damage and can roll the same perks.
For example your "god roll" being Field Prep + Lasting Impression is also available on Red Herring, a VOID, ADAPTIVE FRAME, CRAFTABLE rocket launcher. It does everything your "god roll" Osprey can do but better thanks to its 10% higher base damage and access to enhanced traits. Plus, it's easier to get.

You have every right to use what you feel like using, but the point that others are trying to make is that this rocket launcher isn't a must-have for most players.

“Non testers”. It’s no different than any other high impact with lasting. Which is beat by most damage combos
