A. A ha. A ha ha ha. A ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

That one Virtual YouTuber rabbit from Japan laugh and cringe as this weapon does. Rifled Barrel + Assault Mag + Subsistance + Tresh, and alongside with Nezarec's Sin should do the job. AH↓ HA↑ HA↑ HA↑ HA↑ HA↑ HA↑ HA↑ HA↑

Do not sleep on Ensemble. Also No Backup Plans exists and so do Elemental Well mods. Basically, use this thing for free overshields. Look up Infinite Overshield Titan builds, this gun is in one. Also for Warlocks you can use Nezarec's Sin with this or use some Grenade spam builds for high Adrenaline Junkie uptime. But for Hunters yeah no funny builds with this for you.
The real joke is that people are sleeping on this. If you can use builds around this thing it can do miracles.

Let's be honest, the only reason this weapon even exists in PVE is that it has Substinence. But I must tell you, this perk is sooooo nutty in low/mid-tier activities (everywhere you can basically oneshot orangebars with a shotgun). Big Outriders vibes. If possible, pair with Trench Barrel for the absolute decimation of the enemy.

With a proper build around it, this shotgun can be quite fun to use. Really good for shredding adds with subsistence, pair it with one for all and you can start shredding orange/yellow bars as well. I highly recommend pairing this with something with sympathetic arsenal as the reload is quite sluggish and it doesn't roll auto-loading. Not the best, but not the worst if you build around it.

Subsistence on a shotgun is this thing's unique selling point. Combine with the Heavy Handed mod's secondary perk to regenerate reserve ammo while surrounded. Never stop shooting, ever. Fun in low- to mid-level PvE. In PvP, it's a serviceable shotgun by virtue of archetype alone, but you'll want to look elsewhere for a strong PvP shotgun.

It's good, specifically if you've got Volatile Rounds. There's only 4 other void shotguns that aren't sunset: Deicide, Bonechiller, Retold Tale, and Retrofuturist. It's also the only one of these weapons with an Aggressive Frame. Get one with Subsistence and Vorpal, Trench Barrel, or Adrenaline Junkie and you'll have a good time in PvE.

I'm not sure how this shotgun will perform in S17, because once Volatile Flow goes away it'll be a lot harder to get Volatile Rounds.

It's still laughably bad in PvP, unless you've got some ridiculous recovery and build for Reaping Wellmaker/Volatile Flow. Use your class ability, kill someone, take your well-deserved Void well, and watch people explode. For Hunters this is a breeze. Personally I think that Volatile Rounds are much better on an automatic weapon in PvP like Shayura's Wrath, but it's noteworthy.

Very unique shotgun, it gets a lot of flack for being bad, but its the only special weapon with subsistence, and you can get some fun rolls. I'd rather that over another slightly worse found verdict

I've only had one drop from both times it's been available, so I'm theory-crafting based on the following.
Rifled barrel, assault mag, subsistence, trench barrel / vorpal.
Subsistence will refill your magazine for getting rapid kills. Equip the charged with light mod "heavy handed", which will grant you ammo to reserves for defeating targets with your shotgun while surrounded.
In theory, this should let you shoot for a very long time without reloading. Niche, but fun.
